howto: run client installation UI on server
following scenario:
ignite host: rx2600/11.23 (0512)/igux C.6.6.93 (pa-risc binaries, ia binaries fail to work -> see earlier forum topic)
client host: rx1620
what works:
- ignite host has already been used to install a number of clients -> always using install gui on client console
- now changed to: run client installtion ui on server
status:
- rx1620 client has network booted and says on its screen basically that I now can continue using ignite server side UI (see attached)
- on ignite server an icon for the new to be installed rx1620 has appeared
- in ignite gui, I right click icon of rx1620 to be installed and select "install client->new install
- I get a popup telling me that there was no installation started for my client
When I right-click my to be installed client in the ignite-server ui and select "client status" it tells me that it is waiting for the user to initiate the installation. When then selecting 'help' it tells me that I now should proceed to "actions->client installation->new install" which is exactly where I get the error. The error window also tells to look into the ignite log but there I only find the message "see the logfile" - the same I'm looking at... :-(
Anyone with a hint ?
thanks

Re: howto: run client installation UI on server
well, hate to reply my own posts but there is an add-on to make.
As I said in my initial post, I already installed three other clients successfully, using client-side ui for installation (they run through the entire ignite process with no errors indicated, also not on ignite server side).
Now, after having switched the ignite server to use 'server side UI', also the clients already installed cannot be triggered for re-install or another fresh install. As soon as 'server side UI' is selected, upon requesting an installation action, I get the error message 'no installation started for client xxxx'.
Looks like a systematic (user ?) error for all my clients.
Would really be glad if someone had a hint since I eventually will have to control installation aso. of 120 clients.
thx

Re: howto: run client installation UI on server
ha..me again answering my posts - but here are the good news - the problem is solved.
And the answer is:
use the new ignite version 6.7 !
