HP DeskJet 855C Prints only Test Pages
Suddenly, my DeskJet 855c printer prints all test pages perfectly, but will not
print more than a few lines of any document, i.e. Word, Excel, E-mail or from
www. After a small amount is printed, the lights flash alternately as the page
is ejected.
I upgraded to Office97 and Windows 98 several months ago, but have had no
problems until about 3 weeks ago. When I took it in to the local technicians,
they had the same problem using my computer; when they connected to their
computer, the same thing happened! They sent it in for service, kept it 12
days and returned it, saying there is nothing wrong internally with my printer,
but it still won't work!! PLEASE, HELP ME OUT.
Thank you.

Re: HP DeskJet 855C Prints only Test Pages
Hi Jean,
First of all: Your message arrived in the wrong section, this is a UNIX
section. Since I did some mcse on the side, I won't give you a hard time about
it, ok?
You seem to be in quite a deadlock. I don't know under what circumstances your
printer was checked at the local reseller but I asume they hooked up the
printer to another machine. First I thought it had something to do with your
upgrade to W98; 'cause you need other driver software specifically for W98 to
keep the printer (or any other piece of hardware) running. Then I thought of a
defective parallel port on your computer but at your reseller, on another
computer, the problem persisted. Now, I could only think of a defective printer
cable. Have you changed the cable recently or used it at the reseller as well?
