HPUX 11iv2 - replacing failed boot disk on RP8420

wanted to confirm my steps to replace a failed boot disk on an RP8420 (running 11iv2)
My boot disk is mirrored. When primary failed, heres the tasks I have documented:

1. Replace failed disk.
2. Reboot and interrupt boot sequence to boot on alternate disk
3. ioscan to locate c/t/d for new disk
4. pvchange -a N /dev/dsk/faileddisk
5. for new disk run
vgcfgrestore -n /dev/vg00 /dev/rdsk/newdisk
6. Perform steps to make new disk a mirror:
pvcreate -fb /dev/rdsk/newdisk
vgextend /dev/vg00 /dev/dsk/newdisk
mkboot /dev/rdsk/newdisk
mkboot -a "hpux" /dev/rdsk/newdisk
lvextend -m 1 /dev/vg00/lvolname /dev/disk/newidsk (do this for each lvol on vg00)
7. lvlnboot -R
8. lvlnboot -v
8 setboot -a x/y/x.x.x (set new disk as alt boot path).
9 add disk to stand/bootconf (this required? ..i noticed my servers have only the primary disk in it).

If you are doing this without breaking the mirror,(using lvreduce) follow the below steps.
Replace the disk and boot from alternate path.
#vgcfgrestore -n /dev/vg00 /dev/rdsk/c?t?d?
#mkboot /dev/rdsk/c?t?d?
#mkboot -a "hpux -lq" /dev/rdsk/c?t?d?
#vgchange -a y /dev/vg00
#lvlnboot -R /dev/vg00
#vgsync /dev/vg00.
If you are doing this after breaking the mirror(lvreduce), and reducing the the vg (using vgreduce), the steps you have provided is good.But the 5th step is not required(vgcfgrestore).Because here the procedure is just like adding a new mirror disk to the system.

The man page says it is required by the Software Distributor and HP-UX kernel control scripts to determine how and where to update the initial boot loader, if its required to do so.
You can edit the file using vi and add the entry of second disk.

the command for pvcreate is with a B

Do not miss out any logical volumes.

BUT, I would like to add one thing the replacement disk should be able to accommodate or in other words should be the same size of the failed disk!

You can also do an lifcp after the auto file step.

/stand/bootconf entry is to make the disk SD-UX AWARE. Your steps are fine!
