Re: HPWORLD 2003

Hi Berlene,

I hope to be out there in Hot-lanta for the show. I can't talk to my boss yet since Interex hasn't released the registration information and costs yet though.

Re: HPWORLD 2003

I was sure I was going until 3 days ago, when the school decided to severally scale back all travel for employees. (I am scheduled for a trip in 10 days that I am not sure that I am going to...) All travel has to be approved by the CIO, and they are only allowing travel that is manditory. (The travel restrictions may lift if the war ends, hopefully things will quiet down by August.)

OK, I am the HPUX guy for over 50 HPUX machines, 10.20, 11.0 and 11i, with a demo itanium machine onsite. I have to look up Clay's post for last year about HP World to get the justification statement right.

Berlene,

I'm planning on going. We'll see if the company is planning on sending me. ;^)

Re: HPWORLD 2003

Not going again.

I have to learn something with the letters AX and I in it. Have to buy my own training manuals, amazon.com here I come. If I can't get the company to even buy any training manuals, how am I supposed to get money for other purposes.

Re: HPWORLD 2003

Yep, I'll be there too and not just because it's my home town. I'll be teaching an all day sysadmin course the weekend before HP World starts and will have a couple of presentations during the week too. (Don't tell your management but Atlanta is a party town too!)

Re: HPWORLD 2003

I'm kinda like John B. I'm responsible for over 30 servers, and I can't even get the company to send me to an HP Training Class much less go to the show..

However, I'm trying to do it on my own...

Re: HPWORLD 2003

We have a freeze on our travel budget right now.

As it stands now, in spite of my desire to meet many of you, I probably won't be there.

I wish I'd prepared a paper or lecture or something. I could do a great course on HP-UX and Oracles Internet Application Server.

Re: HPWORLD 2003

Looks like I'll be there. They accepted my presentation for HP World (come and heckle if you want...) and the wheels of the travel secretary are now moving...

Also, last week they got someone to start helping me! Mircles are alive and well here...

Re: HPWORLD 2003

Come one, come all, heed HP World's call,
Fly in, drive in, we will accomodate all

Sit in some seats, and soak up some learning,
Nightlife in Buckhead, Atlanta's not burning.

Greet old friends, while making some new,
heads will be burstin' long 'fore you're through

Start off with Bill as he leads the camp,
continue with Tyler, you'll be a NNM champ.

Let Chris Wong woo you, Our security guru,
or step inside let us performance tune you

Bastille locks you down, while Serviceguard switches,
NFS performance, I saw those flinches

Some may like linux, some MPE,
whatever your likes, we got it, you see?

So come one, come all, heed the HP World Call,
I'll be there to greet you, we'll have a ball!

Re: HPWORLD 2003

Steven,

They are giving some pretty steep discounts for 'those who hold certs.' Could you justify if the price was cut by better than half?

http://h10017.www1.hp.com/certification/hpworld.html

(Our travel policies are very restrictive right now also, but this is the only useful thing for me to go to every year...)

Hope it helps
