Re: Ignite-UX
1) copy the installer DVD to the ignite server and cold-install all blades from this source
2) cretae a golden image of your first blade and distribute this to all others via ignite
3) clone the disks (do you have the hardware mirror now?)
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Ignite-UX
Just select an ignite server. No run "ignite" and select the "copy DVDs" option. Now the server is creating a software depot. You can also copy (swcopy) more software from the application media.
Just boot the client and the installation is almost the same as installing from DVD, only faster, because the source is your ignite server.
If you have a hardware RAID, cloning (roaming) should be easy - if you don't have, you can also use DRD - dynamic root disk for cloning.
Last but not least here is a short document for golden images:
http://docs.hp.com/en/6770/golden.images.pdf
It is made for vPars, but it is very, very similar for non-vPars systems too.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Ignite-UX
You can use DRD (and configure the hostname and IP during the initial boot), but I would really recommend to use a MIRROR!
Did you already decide which ignite procedure to use?
Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Ignite-UX
2) Create a Golden Image of this ...
On my first blade I just have the OS Installed and now I have connected the external DVD drive to it with the 11.31 dvd in it..
I still have 7 other brand new blades in the c7000 enclosure with no OS on them.So I will be installing the OS for the first time on these blades as well.
As I have never done a golden Image or anything of that sort.. thinking to update myself and also install the OS on the rest of the blades...
So what should be my next step now....

Re: Ignite-UX
To give you the ability to more easily migrate your configuration beyond just blades, you might want to consider Ignite Golden images.
These images can include post install scripting to complete mirroring.

Re: Ignite-UX
So as I understand I should have two blades with 11.31 running on them... so that I can install the OS on to the other blades at a stretch...
And I will have to connect the used dvd drive manually to my second blade to load the OS
Am I right

Re: Ignite-UX
On my first Blade I will have to execute the following:
#/opt/ignite/data/scripts/make_sys_image
#chmod 777 /tmp/make_sys_image
#mkdir -p /var/opt/ignite/archives/Rel_B.11.23
#make_sys_image
And this will install OS on my other 7 blades as well....

Re: Ignite-UX
and then I would be able to install OS using the golden image on the other 6 blades.
Step 1: Create golden Image on server 1
Step 2:Install Ignite UX on server 2.
step 3: copy /opt/ignite/data/scripts/make_sys_image to /tmp on server 1 or server2..(I am confused)
Step4: #mkdir -p /var/opt/ignite/archives/Rel_B.11.31
Step5: ????
and this will install OS on servers 3,4,5,6,7 and 8.
all are blades in one enclosure..
And during the OS installation I will have to provide Static IP's when prompted during the installation

Re: Ignite-UX
Do I need to have 1 server to do this or 2 servers running hp-ux...
Can I do this with 1 server and install on the other 7 or would I require 2 servers and install over the other 6....
I have read the document and it dosent mention whether I require 1 server or two .... would it be possible to give a step by step command...
As I am installing with ignite for the first time... and this will also make me understand the process..
Thank you..
