Install HP Surestore DAT 40

Yesterday I've installed HP Surestore DAT 40(external SCSI) on my rx1620.After that I run the ioscan -funC tape..but nothing came out. The out only came out after server reboot.

The question is...do I realy need reboot to install the tape drive???

Re: Install HP Surestore DAT 40

nope

after installaing the hardware, run this command

#insf (this will install the necessary software for your hardware)

then run the command

#ioscan -fnC tape

Re: Install HP Surestore DAT 40

OK thanks..will try later.

Normaly I run the #insf -e command after the ioscan. I got the wrong info before this...

Thanks again.

Re: Install HP Surestore DAT 40

yes, i think so

whenever you plug anything into your server which doesn't need reboot, the above command works prerfectly.

Re: Install HP Surestore DAT 40

Hi Idham,

at least in theory you should never open a powered scsi bus to prevent unpredictable behavior or damage. Even if it works most of the times, it's not supported.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
