Re: Jet Admin

As far as I'm aware "jetdirect" is the name of the card connecting printers to the network. "Jetadmin" is still the software to configure the jetdirects.

Re: Jet Admin

When I converted to the jetdirect print installer, I linked 'hppi' to 'jetadmin'. Then I did not train the operators, just let them continue. (I have the operators configure printers and only call me if they break something.)

There was a procedure to convert the printer queues. I have it somewhere in my desk if anyone needs it.

Hope it helps

Re: Jet Admin

The new jetadmin application is called HP Printer Installer and there is no need to create the link if the only thing the operators are doing is add or delete printers. Both the old JetAdmin and new HPPI products contain the addqueue and removequeue commands. You can either edit /etc/PATH to add the HPPI executable to everyone's path, or put a PATH addition in the operator's .profile to make addqueue and removequeue easy to use.
