Re: K220 will not boot
if the system cannot find a disk using "ser" or "ser ipl" command, there is a good change of having a failed drive.
Does the "search" command shows the other drives?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: K220 will not boot
I assume that you are trying to boot from one of the internal disks (I never did that on a K-box because the internal disks are not hot-plug); the HBA for the internal disks is located on the CORE I/O board. You either have a bad disk or a bad core i/o board or something as simple as a bad terminator.

Re: K220 will not boot
The error seems self explanatory. You need something to boot from.
If you removed all the hard drives, what do you expect to boot from?

Re: K220 will not boot
The Server will not look for a bootable drive.
I have installed drives but receive the same error.
The drive I am trying to boot from is internal

Re: K220 will not boot
Please see the following thread
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1029905
You have an I/O error. Either the disk is bad, but since it does not show up in a search, the next most likely culprit is the SCSI card.
Dumb question - but it needs to be asked - If you have more than one disk on the internal channel are the SCSI adresses unique?

Re: K220 will not boot
The drives all have different SCSI ID's.

Is the SCSI channel properly terminated?

Re: K220 will not boot
There is one cable tha runs from the back card of the hard drive cage to the tape drive and CDrom and is then terminated... There is another cable that runs from the back card of the hard drive cage to the drives and is them terminated.
Both those cables have been replaced

Re: K220 will not boot
Its not going to boot any time soon.
Most likely the boot disk has gone bad.
The system has scsi cables and a drive cage, through which i/o and power is routed to internal disks. Any of this could be the problem.
If the system is really important you should pay time and materials to have HP hardware come and fix it. They probably can, in spite of the age of the box.
If it has a cd-rom, boot off the core OS and see what information you can gather on the system.

Re: K220 will not boot
Tha main problem is the server is unable to perform a SEA... Without being able to search for bootable device I cannot boot from the CDrom.
What would cause a server to terminate a search for bootable devices?
My understanding is that the following components could cause the I/O problem
1. I/O Board (Replaced)
2. System Board (Replaced)
3. Hard drive Cage assembly (Replaced)
4. Hard drives (Replaced and
removed all together)
5. Cabling between the cage and hard dirves
(Replaced)
Is their something that I am missing

Re: K220 will not boot
The most obvious thing to me which hasnt been mentioned yet is the local console?
what are these settings?
Check that scroll lock isnt on, if it is then this will terminate any search immediatley.
is it a HP terminal your using or?
Also a stuck key on the terminal keyboard would cause it to terminate
