kernel parameter

I did
kmtune -s maxdsiz=0x08000000
on my D370 running 11.00.
kmtune -q maxdiz
shows that the parameter was already changed, sam shows the same new value for both current and default. sam also said maxdsiz is of type static.
Do I still need to rebuild the kernel? Or do I still need a reboot? Or do nothing?

Re: kernel parameter

Hi Jun,

Yes you do need to rebuild the kernel & yes you do need to reboot.

Re: kernel parameter

Yes, every kernel change needs a Kernel rebuild and reboot of the server (unless there is a dynamic changable Kernel parameter).

Re: kernel parameter

Yes you need to reboot - unless that was already what it was set to.....

Re: kernel parameter

Hi you need to build the kernell and reboot which can be done with sam or manually.

Re: kernel parameter

On 11.00, thought there was introduction of dynamic kernel rebuild, most of the parms still need a real reboot. So yes rebuild the kernel and the reboot your server for your new maxdsiz to take effect.
Cooperation is doing with a smile what you have to do anyhow.
