Re: Moving an EMC meta-volume from one port to another
This is not (strictly speaking :-) a HP-UX related question. Moving volumes from being visible on one port to another is done in the configuration of the storagebox itself. Only your EMC CE can do this, so you'll have to contact EMC.

Re: Moving an EMC meta-volume from one port to another
after all changes are done you need to find this new hardware on your HP-server.
You need to do:
1. #ioscan -fnC - to find "new device".
2. #insf -e - to create new log.device
for "new device"
3. #rmsf -a - to remove dev-files
without real devices,
associated to it.
Regards,Stan.

Re: Moving an EMC meta-volume from one port to another
Thanks for all your responses! It great to know that even though this wasn't strictly an HP issue this forum supports the peripherals too.

Re: Moving an EMC meta-volume from one port to another
Just to add to the above:
SDR (Configuration Manager) was a purchasable in ECC 4.x and below. In ECC 5.x and greater it falls under the umbrella of the Symmetrix Manager license. I'd have to check our contract again to be sure but I believe this is standard with an ECC purchase, so if you're running 5.x or greater you should have SDR capability.
If that is the route you go, double and triple check everything before you commit to any changes....especially if you have multiple hosts connected to the Symm.

Re: Moving an EMC meta-volume from one port to another
Do you see the LUN(s) in the ioscan output ?
The size can be seen by running 'diskinfo /dev/rdsk/cxtydz' You should also have a gatekeeper device. For flexibility you should have broken up the 'meta' in to smaller LUNs.
