Re: NIS and NIS+
you can find loads of doc's at www.docs.hp.com like
http://docs.hp.com/cgi-bin/fsearch/framedisplay?top=/hpux/onlinedocs/B1031-90048/B1031-90048_top.html&con=/hpux/onlinedocs/B1031-90048/00/00/28-con.html&toc=/hpux/onlinedocs/B1031-90048/00/00/28-toc.html&searchterms=nis%2b%7cnis&queryid=20030810-044358
There should be a doc ID UNX1030104 mentioned in below link but I can not find the specific doc.
http://www4.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/search.do?category=c0&mode=text&searchString=UNX1030104+&search.x=29&search.y=10&searchCrit=allwords&docType=Security&docType=Patch&docType=EngineerNotes&docType=BugReports&docType=Hardware&docType=ReferenceMaterials&docType=ThirdParty
Kind regards,
Robert-Jan.

Re: NIS and NIS+
As part of consolidation of users/groups I am planning to use NIS/NIS+/LDAP.
I will start a seperate thread for this.
thanks,

Re: NIS and NIS+
Youve got loads of docs to choose from above. The only thing I would say as a quick pro-con list
security NIS+ better than NIS
ease of use NIS better than NIS+
network load, depends on set-up NIS+ >> NIS if V secure
flexibility NIS+ is more flexible as you can split it into domains
OS NIS+ 11.x NIS is 10.X or more
As mentioned above NIS will integrate with LDAP.
Regards
Tim

Re: NIS and NIS+
I hate to hijack this discussion but I need some help.
They set work up to use nis+ and then dumped it in my lap (i'm new there)
I have a simple problem or so it would seem, but I've been rtfm like crazy and cannot find an easy way to correct the spelling of the user's real name.
I'm getting to the point where I just wanna tar up the user's files and do a re-install
but that's a hassell in the long run
Can anyone offer any help with this?
Thank you
Jenny
