I have a NIS+ domain with a Solaris 2.5 Master server. Now I want to add a HP-UX 11.11 box to this domain. On a Solaris client I only need to create the file "defaultdomain" with the domain name in but how to do on the HP-UX client. I have already added the HP-UX host on the domain Master server.

You need to do more than this, you need to register your client with the solaris box first. There is a good section on NIS+ setup (on HP). See the following URL (I got this by searching for NIS+ & ticking manuals box).

Re: NIS+
I just re-looked at manual. It does not say explicity which files will be fiddled with. from memory
/etc/nsswitch.conf
/etc/rc.config.d/nameservers # (grep NISPLUS * in this directory)
To manually set the domain do
domainame my.domain.uk
