Our agency is scheduled to have HP present it's Grid Computing and Oracle 10G. I know next to nothing about the subject, but would like to learn some about it before HP delivers the presentation. I have not had much luck finding any information about the topic on the HP web site. Can anyone point me toward some documentation on the subject? White Papers, or anything that would give me either an overview or a detailed account.
Thanks,
Darrell Tschakert

Solutionor look around in the oracle grid forum
http://forums.oracle.com/forums/forum.jsp?forum=62
for a large running grid of another kind, have a look at http://www.planet-lab.org , they implemented a large filesystem spanning all over their hosts with automatic redundancy.
I haven't gotten any grid toys yet, to my eyes this still is nothing more than a many-node RAC where shared storage becomes optional and You don't need MC/SG to maintain application availability.
which is interesting enough, as it lower chance of having a few highly loaded systems and instead give You some reasonable load everywhere.
I don't really believe it, and my mind keeps saying 'I/O waste, latencies and what if it breaks, maybe they just need something to do for their large ASP server centers noone uses.'.
On the other hand, as Heinlein wrote: If You want to do something, ask the specialists, why it won't work that or another way, and then simply do it.
So maybe it really works and is the next good thing [tm].
maybe You can post back after the presentation.

Re: Oracle 10G Info Needed
I don't think one's points of view are wrong someday, if they're based on facts.
i.e.: Windows XP is fscking slow and a bloat in disk usage.
that's a fact.
anyone can check it by installing windows 3.11 and see how fast a current pc will boot a 6MB operating system and 10MB gui (ok, 35 including win32 and winG). but it's going to be completely useless for almost anything people do nowadays.
that's the other fact.
we can just keep trying out everything and believing nothing like a child :)
