PGP Public Key

Hello,

Is it necessary to regenerate a private/public key when the server host name changes? (user ID remains same) How about others public keys? Do I necessary to re-import them to key ring?

Thank you for your help.

Re: PGP Public Key

I have migrated GPG keys and keyrings between servers without any problems. I think your keys should still work if the host name changes.

Re: PGP Public Key

Shalom Jun,

I have changed hostnames on Linux based PGP Public Key systems.

I have not had to re-generate keys.

I would expect the same behavior on HP-UX.

Re: PGP Public Key

PGP (or GPG) shouldn't care. If you have
doubts, move your key files to some other
system (with a different name), and run the
experiment.
