Sorry to post before Pete's issues list. Still a strong advocate on browser compatibility and signatures.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - February 2006
My monthly attempt to summarize familiar, repeating issues
0) "System unavailable" This has gotten completely ridiculous. The Forums are basically unuseable this morning. I've been pounding away for an hour trying to get anywhere, with very little success. Are you guys trying to force me to get a life????
1) Repeat the bread crumb navigation links at the bottom of the
page so we don't have to page all the way up to the top of long
threads. Also, add the same links to the notification pages.
*** HP is working on this (tracked internally) ***
2) Could we possibly have a real, functional search engine?
Please??
3) Allow for formatted text that does not lose spaces, so script
snippets can be understood.
*** HP is working on this (tracked internally) ***
4) Provide the ability for a user to customize the forum subjects
they view by setting up their own groupings (like: all of HP-UX,
plus Servers (9000), plus Workstations (hp-ux based), plus all
of Storage - well, you get the idea).
*** HP is working on this (tracked internally) ***
5) From Merijn: The ability to have a fixed signature in one's
profile.
6) Is it possible to fix it so the "javascript.open" function works
the same in different browsers - in Netscape, firefox, Opera,
etc., the link opens in the same window.
*** HP is working on this (tracked internally) ***
7) Now that the new headgear situation has been addressed, I
think it's time to start asking for it to be addressed again.
There is really only room for two stars underneath the wreath.
What are you going to do once Clay hits 80,000 points? How
about a wreath of stars? You could probably fit 5 or six nice
gold stars in a wreath and set the value of each succeeding
star high enough that you should be able to have the system
ready for "y1m" (that's 1,000,000, I think). You could award
one star at a time or put the outline in place and color the
stars in as they are earned.
*** HP is working on this (tracked internally) ***
8) By popular demand (particularly SEP): Making standards
compliant browsers such as Firefox, Mozilla and Opera, supported.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - February 2006
I'm beginning to wonder if anyone in HP believes that there is a long-standing, on-going problem with response time.
Perception is reality.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - February 2006
Thank you for your response and your candor. Clearly, your opinion is yours and not HP's ;-)
The question therefore, is why can't something be done?
Clearly, the problem is not confined to specific users, geography or time.
I have noted publicly and privately more times than I care to count that the issue appears to be indigenous to the Forums; not the ITRC at large; and not HP sites in general.
It seems nonsensical to continue to have an "Issues" thread when a large fraction of the ongoing issue is the same, unresolved, and unanswered.
And that's just *my* opinion!
Regards!

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - February 2006
I know this is the wrong thread but it seems relevant here.
I think the forums performance right now is sparkling. Did you do something? It certainly seems to have worked.
I'm hopeful that it will continue.
Cheers
Gavin.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - February 2006
This has happened before. For reasons not explained by HP you accessed the test database.
I echo 100% JRF's remarks concerning performance. As an HP customer we are heavy users of ITRC to support a hundreds of HP-9000 servers around the world.
We need this system up and fast. 24 by 6 at least.

I don't see anything wrong with that thread. He's just asking if anyone can point him to examples of web pages with "agents".

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - February 2006
This message hasn't shown up in the past 24 hours or os. I believe something has improved in this space. Excellent.
>>> Please delete this duplicate post:
When it was showing up a lot I started to use a second window to verify whether a reply made it in or not. Also, i always ^A, ^C to ^Copy ^All text just before the 'submit'. Burned once, twice shy...
>> When is this forum site realy compatible with firefox or modzilla.
Hmmm, I use Firefox 1.0.6 for 99% of my forum activities on a 'HP T5515 Thin client' Linux HP001185E221AE 2.4.25 #4.
The only problem i have is with attachment, but that is not restricted to the itrc site, but a problem in my setup.
Just an other datapoint,
Cheers,
Hein.
