Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - March 2004!

Hi All,

To set the record straight, the HP Logo is reserved for the folks who help moderate the forums across all forum categories. You'll notice in the left sidebar (blue area) that the logo icon indicates hp moderator. Not everyone receives it based on hp employment status. As Clay points out, it is based on a set of criteria and only after the individual has been trained. The moderators are here to help, they particiate as needed, alert the support team of any system issues, keep an eye out for advertisers, clean up language as needed, etc. The forums are all about the community members, and you folks do a pretty decent job of moderating yourselves...thanks.

Regards,
Dan

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - March 2004!

Naveej, the forum member you point out was banned for abusing the system nearly 2 years ago, and all replies removed. Looks like the profile should be hidden as well.

Antoniov, as you know, the messages posted by the imposter have been removed.

All, I'm considering this thread may be more suited in the "Your Questions Regarding ITRC Forums" category starting next month. Thoughts?

Hi Dan,

It's only logical to put it there since it is independent of a specific forum.

do it!!

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - March 2004!

American films (as we call them in England) to learn English?

Be careful you don't end up saying soccer instead of football (amongst other things!).

Don't worry too much about your English - it's a lot better than my Italian!

Please take the time to congratulate a new wizard who has lots of hard earned Lunux points.

I'd recommend PBS to learn English, not our trashy movies.

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - March 2004!

Hi All,
I just had thought about the discussion about the next point level after Olympian..

How about "Hall of Fame" may be at 50000 points?

We can have this level as the final one were everyone aims and get points to be in the "Hall of Fame".

This can be the final level and no more points level above that. Who Ever enters Hall of Fame performs, posts & forums till they retire..

Just a thought.. let me know what u all think about it..

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - March 2004!

Why does ITRC need 2 seperate forums?

1. These "IT resource center forums"

2. Those "business support forums"

Seems like similar questions, but more traffic, better answers here.

Why not consolidate?

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - March 2004!

Hi Scot,

these very questions I have posted in February.

Maybe we can tell the forumers over there to come over here as a starter.

Then the business forum can stay until moved over here as an archive.

Ralf Puchner is leaving the Tru64 forum as moderator, so whoever wants to give him a farewell may do this here:

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - March 2004!

I'm having second thoughts about answering this question.

Besides my utterly obnoxious tone, I can see no purpose for this question other than to do bad things to smtp servers.

Please consider erasing my answer if you agree.

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - March 2004!

I'm sorry to be so vague here, but I'm pretty sure that a reply - preview - edit sequence ended with a cleared buffer a few times. However, when i tried to reproduce it, it worked just fine. It happended a few times now, but I have yet to find a pattern, other then a somewhat longer elapsed time.
Sure, I may have fat-fingered once, maybe twice, but I really suspect the application.
I have taken to try to ^A (select all), ^C (copy) before hitting [preview], but that has not saved me so far. Murphy.
Did anyone else experience this?
Hein.

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - March 2004!

I, too, have found myself left with an empty buffer. Since then I have started to edit in notepad or at least save the edit in notepad before preview/submit when the message got a bit longer.

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - March 2004!

Dan,

There seem to be some discrepancies between the 2 areas listing questions that I have posted.

The area at the bottom of my profile page:
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/publicProfile.do?userId=CA18242&forumId=1

Lists my last question posted as being "SK Chan is now an Olympian". That is not accurate.

The "my questions" link in the "I have assigned points to 992 of 992 responses to my questions." sentence, which points to:

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/pageList.do?userId=CA18242&listType=question&forumId=1

lists the questions correctly.

Is there a problem here or is this "normal" behavior. I'm just confused by the differences in output.

Hi Patrick,
I think this is a bug in the system and Dan is already aware of this issue..

Dan:

This four-year-old thread suddenly appeared at the top of the Microsoft forums. The main page indicated there had been 4 replies but when I opened it, there were no visible replies. I then replied and went out and back in but my reply is not visible???

Thought you'd like to know.

Dan,

Pat on the back. I know you're forums, but i just saw a close case button in my software case.

I've been asking for that for a while.

Thanks to whoever got it for me.

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - March 2004!

Danno,

I know at times I can be as diplomatic & tactful as a shotgun & I apologize to all the forum members for that, but I'll try to simply make my point. I'll quote from the ITRC legal notices - Use of site section:

Customer may not modify the information or software at this Site in any way or reproduce or publicly display, perform, or distribute or otherwise use them for any public or commercial purpose.

I, as a reasonably intelligent person, interpret this to mean that one may not post anything that is intended to solicit business.
If I misinterpreted someone's actions, and I'm pretty sure I didn't - all "jokes" aside - then I sincerely apologize to all the forum's members.
But some forum members seem to abuse this particular principle more than others & I'd like to point out that not only have I never, I wouldn't even consider it. If we're going to have rules & principles, then we ALL need to uphold them.

My $0.02,
Jeff

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - March 2004!

Dan:

Is it possible to get these three threads merged?:

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=523032

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=524629

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=525009

and get rid of or move or change the color of that blankedy-blank NEW MESSAGE button (now the new message BUTTONS after recent (much appreciated) change to add second set of buttons at the bottom.

Thanks Dan.
