Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (7/2)

I have experienced speed problems. It would be nice to have a followup part of a post to either explain further complications or to post the success. Thanks.

Hello Kiyoung Ko,

Regarding your message on how to edit your posted question, the best thing to do is to go to the area where your question is posted, select "Reply", and add additional information in the reply. This way, people who have already replied will be notified of additional information as part of the message thread. FYI, messages are posted instantaneously. There is no delay or formal HP review of messages prior to posting.

I hope this helps you.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (7/2)

Hello All,

Again, thank you for your feedback.

A number of the above issues are somewhat related, particularly to login (database). A server issue arose yesterday regarding a hard disk problem that is now being attended to, however, I don't have any information on estimated time of completion. Hopefully, the above issues are related to the one instance and the issues will be resolved. I will keep you updated on this to the best of my ability as information becomes available. I appreciate your patience in this matter, and would like to hear if anyone sees their experience improve.

Best Regards,
Dan

I have not founf any problems while using your forum. Thanks to you because I'm not very experienxed specialis, but I have found more useful suggestion on some interesting situations which I never met in my practice but specialists reply helps me to prevent some problems while I'm maintaining my computers and network.

P.S. Just one question. I just have moved for little time into another area and have found that while I'm trying to login inro forum its asking me of my personal information update. I'm still under my original contacts, but it asking me each time I'm trying to login. Is it normally or not?

Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (7/2)

Hi Dan:

Response time is abysmal during the last two hours or so. It takes well over 60-seconds after clicking on a thread in the HP-UX or Servers family pages to get a response. Similar delays are seen traversing page-to-page in the FamilyHome. Logging-in; searches in the Technical Knowledge database; and the retrieval of TKB documents do not evidence abnormal delay. Searches of the Community Forum return a thread list very quickly, but long delays are seen whenever an individual thread is selected for reading from the list of results. The acknowledgement response to posts is returned quickly.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (7/2)

Like many people I'm going to rant about the performance of the site. It is extremely frustrating searching for information when each page refresh 30-60 seconds.

It's not just the ITRC, it seems most hp.com sites have this problem, to different degrees. HP is well known in our department as the slowest site on the Web. This must be extremely embarrasing for HP when it is trying to push its Internet services

When I do have the patience to use the site I find it extremely useful, however!

Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (7/2)

The forums are extremely slow this morning taking 60 seconds or more to dispaly a page when selected. Occasionally getting HTTP 404 errors.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (7/2)

Hi Dan.
Two things from my side.
Today ( July 18th from 07:30 CET ) the server was extremly slow. Was confirmed by Mrs. Mostart from HP support in Germany.

I answered a posting with no subject given.
Now i have had a dragonworm of subject in my profile.( Disappeared with this reply )

Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (7/2)

Dan,

The site is extremely slow this morning. Maybe your guys could post their problems with it on here and some of us could help them? ;)

Also, it would be nice if we could customize our individual settings to show the message time stamps in our local time zone setting instead of GMT. Just something to put on the wish list.

Thanks.

Turn on more power.

Getting page not found and when I do get a page it is a multi-minute wait today.

Started looking at 8 AM central and getting about a page to refresh every 5 minutes.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (7/2)

Hi Dan,

The Forum is a dog today. I've had no problems getting to other HP sites but typically a page takes 60-70 seconds to display. I think it is time to talk Carly out of a Superdome for this site and some better database software. This performance level hardly speaks well as an advertising tool for HP. I will say that I have had no errors just very poor response.

Feed the squirrels, will ya?! Things have been moving at a snails pace since last night.

I also receive the following SSI Error when trying to get to the HP-UX Family Home page today.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (7/2)

Hello Everyone,

I'm definitely listening, and appreciate the feedback. I must say I am experiencing the same slow response in the system (late yesterday and this morning). I have submitted a case with our production group to have them address the response time issue. I appreciate your patience while this is resolved.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (7/2)

Hi Dan,

I spent about four hours of my day just
trying to get onto the forum. Perhaps not
just time for a new database, but a new
system. Perhaps a superdome is the order
of the day. Snails should definitely be
taken off the menu.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (7/2)

As some of you may have experienced, we had an issue with accessing message posts today. The issue was related to database transactions being blocked. The situation is now resolved and functionality has been restored. If you experience similar issues when trying to access message posts, please let me know. I apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

Error processing SSI file '/cm/HomeContent/1,1151,LoggedIn,00.html'

Just received this error while trying to access main page of forums. Then I got a 404 error trying to get to the reply part of this thread. When it did work, it took like 2 minutes to come up. Just passing along the info.

QUESTION: How would you like us to let you know? I used the standard "Contact HP" dialog this morning (around 0800 EST).

I wasn't ablr to get into any of the posts this morning from 1000 EST until 1430EST. I could navigate the forums main pages, but the posts, when clicked on, would return 404s. Everything seems to be working now though.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (7/2)

Hello Dan,

Would it be possible to add more bullets to the 'Recent Responses' column? I usually use my profile as a springboard to past posts and only five bullets kindof limits my view.

Good Luck,
Curt

Re: Please Report Forums Issues! (7/2)

Hello All...thanks for your feedback.

James: good question! If *possible*, please submit feedback via this thread or to the forums feedback mailbox found under "contact HP" link above (ask a question about the ITRC).

Edward: transactions were locked up until around 10:30am PST, hence the 404s -- things are working fine now.

Curt: I personally would find your suggestion equally helpful...I'll add it to the enhancements wish-list and see what can be done.

Best Regards,
Dan
