Re: Please Report Forums Issues (9/4/2001)

I wasn't able to get in this morning, and I just got in not by going to the main hpux forums page I has bookmarked but by tracking in through the main itrc page and going the long way. When I used the bookmark, it immediatly brought up the "page not found http 404 file not found error".

Re: Please Report Forums Issues (9/4/2001)

Hi Dan,

Just a minute back i got this error while accessing the forum.

Error processing SSI file '/cm/FamilyHomeContent/1,11868,!117,00.html'

A refresh from my bookmark solved the problem.

Thanks

Re: Please Report Forums Issues (9/4/2001)

Hello All,

Thank you for your recent feedback. I have alerted our development and support teams regarding the changes to the 4-digit reference numbers in the various links and URLs mentioned. I'm not sure what has caused this, but it was not a planned modification. We hope to have this resolved asap, as it is affecting many users. Please standby for further information.

Stefan, I'm looking into what may be causing your attachment to not be accepted.

Best Regards,
Dan

Hi Dan:

You have a new problem. It appears that Patrick Wallek has had his name changed to Anthony Barber. See:

Re: Please Report Forums Issues (9/4/2001)

I have searched the forums for messages about "lp wrap"-issues. the result came back with about 50 issues.
The most interresting is on the top, but when I open this message URL :
http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,1150,0xceeaf841489fd4118fef0090279cd0f9,00.html

I receive the following error : The page cannot be found

Hope I can soon look at the thread of this forum messages,

Greetings,

Re: Please Report Forums Issues (9/4/2001)

Hi Dan:

As evident from Chris Marrell's post immediately above, many (most?) users have not yet noted that search results and links embedded in posts prior to ~ 09/29/2001 cannot be found without modiying the substring '/1,1150' to '/1,11866' in the link.

Would you PLEASE fix these links and in the meantime PLEASE post a general advisory somewhere? For instance, when the Maintenance and Support section is going to be down for maintenance, there is a notation DAYS BEFORE.

This is one of the new feature suggestions (enhancements) I have submitted before, and IMO this is one despartely needed. It would be nice too, to know the target timeframe in which we could/should expect resolution. Thanks.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues (9/4/2001)

The url change hit me also and I have been unable to get in until now.
I had the HPUX url bookmarked and thought the whole site was down.

Something really strange is the fact that I cannot ping forums.itrc.hp.com which resolves to 192.151.52.111
I used to use this to see if the forum web server was up.

Dan,

Are you going to open a new thread for October? Just curious.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues (9/4/2001)

Hi Dan,

concerning these "evergreen" questions, like automated ftp-connections or how to attach a file to a mail message, wouldn't it be good to have a quicklink list at the top of the forum ?

Like the "top read solutions" it could be a quicklink list "most common problems" to avoid the term "FAQ".

Just an idea
