Re: Please Report Forums Issues - February 2002!

I could read messages for the last 3 hours and get the reply window but could not actually reply. I would always get the 404.

Seems to be back working a few minutes ago.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - February 2002!

I cannot reply or post new messages from either Opera (6.01 and 6.02) or Mozilla (0.9.8). I /can/ post from Netscape 4.79 or IE-6 but I realy loath the last.

Mozilla complains about too many redirections, Opera just keeps repeating the logon screen

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - February 2002!

I had got this error while loading the HP-UX page on the forum on the 26/02/2002:

Error processing SSI file '/cm/CategoryHomeContent/1,11869,LoggedIn!156,00.html'

I had kept trying for about 25 mins until the forum resume normal.

Also, I got an HTTP 404 error while replying this message before.

Kenny.

allways problems with my login:

could not login

Also, be sure you are using the site where you registered: European support customers should have registered at the European site, and Americas/Asia-Pacific support customers should have registered at the Americas/Asia-Pacific site.

but my name appeared on the left side and it seams to be o.k.
Maybe this is due to i have a login for EU and US/AP. Can i have not one user for both SYSTEMS?

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - February 2002!

Dan,

Still having posting problems. I reply to a question, submit & get a response acknowledgement thanking me for my first participation, then I go back to the forum & the reply is not there.

I have just used the back button on the browser to try to find the reply again, and when getting to the acknowledgement page the browser tells me the page has expired. I refreshed the page & I now get the normal acknowledgement message & the reply has been posted.

Hope this helps

Regards,

Hilary

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - February 2002!

I'm having an intermittant issue posting replies.
I am getting a connection time out only while sending the post using submit.
Honestly, I am not sure if it due to my network traffic or the forums, but this has only been occuring over the last couple of weeks. Anyone else with this problem?
Also, I have not paid close enough attention to see what time of day this is occuring, but I will, if it continues.
Thanks,
Kel

Hi Kelli,

Thanks for your message. I was also experiencing problems posting replies, as were a few others I heard from. Not sure what is causing this issue -- it may be networking. I'm waiting to hear back from our support team for any news.

Thanks,
Dan

Unable to post a reply to
http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0x847ffadeba2bd6118ffd0090279cd0f9,00.html

Very strange. I hit submit and then it just sat there thinking. It finally timed out but the time out was on the order of 15 minutes. I got tired of watching it and went off to do something else.

I tried it a few more times with the same results. Then copied my reply and kill my browser and started it up again. Same thing. Finally gave up went to supper and am able to reply to other posts. No point in replying to the first post since it's long been solved.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - February 2002!

Dan,

Another strange one tonight. I was replying to a post in the "servers > 9000" forum just a few minutes ago and when I hit submit, it came up with the "As a first time poster....." dialogue. I got back to the posting list for that forum and my reply had not been posted. I hit the back button a couple of times to get back to my posting and resubmitted it and I got the normal "Thank you" page and the reply got posted.

This is not the first time that this has happened. It usually seems to happen after y'all encounter problems.

What the common thread is, I don't know.

Yes I can, and the stupid JavaScript is to blame: It just opens the page
without scrollbar and addressbar...

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - February 2002!

Dan

This is not really a problem, but more of a suggestion. I was wondering if there is a way we can create ask users to begin to use the icon that is created for magical answer when they have received a satisfactory answer that solves their problem.

Second one is that we should also put an icon or some other mechanism together that says a user has closed out this thread and is no longer referring to the thread for any further postings, I believe that there are answers being posted to threads that never get back to the users since they feel that a previous answer may have already solved their problem. This may result in some valuable information for the user who posted the question but will never see it since they are not checking the thread again.

Just a few suggestions to possibly improve the process.

Thank you for your support. (a quote from bartles & james (not mine)).

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - February 2002!

Hi Dan,

How about having the forum return you to the exact area you enter the question from?
EG - if I enter from the HP-UX area & it's a sys admin question, it returns you to the sys admin section. Kind of a pain - you have to go back up to HP-UX.

Thanks,
Jeff

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - February 2002!

Hello all,

sorry for being late - the statistics of the (previous) month:

17635 exitsing forumers
_3269 active forumers
_3016 newbies
___79 pros
___80 graduates
___48 wizards
___38 royals
____5 pharaohs
____1 olympian

And the predictions are:
A.Clay will have to stop answering this very month to NOT get the "green salad" hat,
Alex will move to the sandy fields of pharaoh-hood within days,
Carlos and Volker will need another minute or two to get rid of their wizard hats,
Eugen, Dave, and Insu will have wizard hats pretty soon,
Kapil, Dries and T G might get their graduate hats,
and Bob D., and Chuck could don their Pro-caps.

To start something new, I have attached the whole list, enumerated and sorted by points...

Have a nice march,
Wodisc
