Re: Please Report Forums Issues - January 2002!

Dan-

I don't know if this affects others or not, but it bugs me sometimes. I will often see a post I like and print it out so I can find or read it later (something I might need, a problem that applies, etc). anyway, the pages are sized such that they are slightly larger than the page, and so I have to tweak the margins on the browser to get them printer or else I lose words on the right side. I have even copied posts and pasted them into Word to print out. I see the printing instructions tell me to use landscape, but those don't fit in a binder as nicely. Besides, it's just as slow to switch to landscape every time I want a post as to adjust margins. I really don't need to see the menu on the left side, so could you guys maybe offer a printable version of the page that just sends the center frame (the post part)? Just thought I'd throw that out there as a suggestion. Thanks.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - January 2002!

Hi,

I Agree with Mark. I have printed out hordes of information. This is a good place to look when your learning, but it is a bit of a pain when you go to print. I have printing them in landscape, but find it a waste of paper.

The suggestion Mark made seams resonable to me.

so here comes my beg.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.

:)

thanks

Mark and Maria, thanks for the suggestion -- I will add this to our list of enhancements.

If Stuart Elflett is out there, thanks for the tip on the "top 5 users" not appearing on forums > printers > photo:

Having tracked down the gremlin, top users should now be appearing....

Thanks again for your feedback!

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - January 2002!

I had a question in the Security Forum and was trying to Assign points to the answer, it would only let me assign to one, the others went to the window but the selection box for the points did not show.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - January 2002!

Also very slow at 1500 CST.

It is taking minutes to load a page.

I'll try back tomorrow as it is too slow to use this afternoon.

At least there are no 404's and the pages finally load, but I can grow old waiting for them.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - January 2002!

Hi Team,
I have worked with this forum during Night-shifts & day-shifts, it's obvious that the Load is lower at night that's why I get an excellent page refresh & navigation!

.. Can you make the welcome message appearing on the Left-hand side of the page hyperlinked to my profile where i can see my total points.

.. is there plans to port -at least the forum section - to a Unix (Linux) Web server env.

regards,
t++

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - January 2002!

Hi Maria,

There are two ways to get around your
problem with the printing. Cut and paste
just the text, or bookmark the page into
your browser.

Your exact login problem I've experienced
before with older versions of Internet explorer.
I solved mine by upgrading to IE 5.5

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - January 2002!

Hi Michael,

I am on IE6.0. So it shouldn't be the browser. This is the first time that it has happened.

Thanks for the advice about the printing, but I was saying that it would be just easier for it to be in portrait.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - January 2002!

Hi Maria,

Yes I agree, being able to print the entire page of text would useful. I've seen a number of other areas of HP's website that have a link
to where you can print a page, "printable version" I think it was called.

The forums were *extremely* for most of today,
so this could explain your reason for not
being able to login....

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - January 2002!

Hi Dan,

Can I have this fixed so that I can assign points to an outstanding response?

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - January 2002!

Hi Dan,

in the last few weeks i got nearly no notification of new forum messages. I got one around December 20th and on on the 3rd of Januar. Thats it for the last 4 weeks.

I don't know if this affects others, but could you please have a look at this.

Thanks

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - January 2002!

Hi Dan:

I measure my response time during the last 24-hours, on average, at 30-60 seconds. This is the case at home or at work (two different ISPs). Moreover, I do *NOT* have any speed deficiencies when I access the Maintenance and Support site or the documentation (docs.hp,com)

What gives?

Regards!

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - January 2002!

Feed those poor animals to make the forums run faster.

With response time between 1 to 3 minutes, I will not be on today to answer any questions. I think faster than that and cannot take the time to wait.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - January 2002!

Very slow (1-3 minutes to load) ...

I got the infamous "page cannot be found" error at 1020 CST when I tried to post a reply to another thread.

I again got the "page cannot be found" error at 1035 CST when I tried to post this reply the first time.

1040 CST - And again when I tried to post this reply the second time.

It's been very slow Monday and Tuesday Jan 7th and 8th. Maybe the first time all of us are back since the Holiday's for a full week of work.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - January 2002!

I agree that the forums portion of this web site is terribly slow. I just want to point out to the HP rep's that this is your advertising. If you can't produce a web site fast enough to keep customers happy, why should we buy HP products for the same task? Our latest purchase is from EMC for this very reason.
