Re: Please Report Forums Issues - May 2003
Regarding the lack of busy/ready status when posting:
Assuming you use Internet Explorer:
IE has a Status bar (View -> Status Bar) at the bottom. When quiet, it has 5 fields, a long one, three short ones and another one.
When you post (i.e. click on the "-> SUBMIT" button) and it 'sticks', you will very shortly see a blue field on the right part of the long field. That means that your browser has processed the SUBMIT request and you just have to wait. Do *not* click SUBMIT again. If you doubt that your posting worked, then do: New window (Ctrl+N), Back (Alt+back_arrow) and Refresh (F5).
I hope this helps.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - May 2003
Things are getting weirder by the minute this morning.
First, I had that SSI error on the question that I simply could not open.
Now Robert Menefee has a question with two 10 point responses but no rabbit shows.
A little while ago, I tried to click on a profile and got "document contains no data".
And of course, things are slowing down, too.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - May 2003
I know you have people on here talking about the way the site slows down on a regular basis, but this morning was the worst I have seen. It even prompted me to call the regular customer support number for assistance.
Attached is a screen shot with the time in the lower right hand corner. Please remember that my time zone is Central USA.
Are you guys making any forward progress on this issue as of yet?

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - May 2003
While submitting points, I got impatient. Thus my profile now shows two more points assignments than responses.
A nice place to be if it were only true. Perhaps this can provide insite in to what happened and how to prevent it.
Any chance I can get someone to tweak my profile? I'd also like my last three posts to successes to be removed. Just don't take away any points!
You must have a tough job with the way things are running lately. We still like you. A lot.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - May 2003
I thought response was getting better for a while there, maybe around 12:30 to 1:00 PM EDT, but it's gone completely out the window now.
It took 703 seconds to reload the home page, 541 to open the Issues thread, and 198 to open the reply window.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - May 2003
Matthew Wright (http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/UserProfile/1,,CA963206!1,00.html) has hitted too much submit-button. Result: creating multiple times the same topic. COuld you delete non-used topics, please.
The only correct one is:

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - May 2003
Anyone wants a\knows of 'forum-search'?
I mean a search option in the forum you're in?
Maybe I'm not looking close enough but it would help me.
bye

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - May 2003
The Search button is located at the top left of the page, under the HP logo. Click it and you'll be presented with a "Search Selection" page. Enter your search keyword, click one of the "selection criteria", then choose where you want to "Search In" (i.e. click ITRC forums). You can also choose output options like results per page, filter options, sort by options. Then click the "->Search" button and away you go.
Be warned, the search does not always work as well as one might hope and it can take some deal of effort to find what you want but be patient and you will be rewarded.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - May 2003
I got a 'connection is reset by the opposite side' 10 min. before now. Is it possible?
Or is our proxy server spinning?
It is M*# like yours.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - May 2003
As of approximately 11:15AM EDT, response time has hit the fan (again). 486 seconds to reload the main page, 409 to open the Issues thread, and *only* 96 to open the reply.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - May 2003
I'm trying to work a support case and getting five minute delays on clicks.
Yahoo and others are just fine, validating my connection.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - May 2003
I must apologize for my crankiness.
I know you are forums and not itrc overall, and it wasn't right to be cranky.
The speed situation has improved a great deal the last half hour, my support case is being worked and all is reasonable.
Could I be causing problems. I'm logged ini with a few IE 5.5 sessions and one mozilla 1.2 session running on HP-UX. Could that be confusing things for itrc with multiple logins?

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - May 2003
Steven, the past hour performance was not great, so it was likely the ITRC side. I usually have multiple browsers open at one time, but its always the same browser (not different types). I don't think having IE and Mozilla open is a problem, but I have nothing to back that up.
Thanks,
Dan

In respond to search
Know of the 'big'search, but I want a simple search that focusses on the forum you're in not the hp-whole-site whit some selection posibilities.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues - May 2003
Recently i joined this forum. With full enthusiasm, i clicked on Reply in a thread to reply. It took me to "Edit my profile" page. I submitted that page and found myself back in the same posting. Again i clicked on the Reply which took me to the "reply to message" page.
So my point is new joinees might have gone through this page while joining this forum itself. Why do you need to mandate this page on the first reply ?
Just a suggestion :)
Cheers
