The above thread shows in the HP-UX Family page to have 5 responses and also shows a 'magic bunny'. When you actually go into that thread, you can only see 2 responses and neither one have any points assigned. Something strange going on somewhere......

Did you try doing a refresh on the page? Perhaps a proxy stored an old page? It looks OK to me.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues -- October 2003!
Seems like the jump utility is messing up. It's resulting in mostlu blank page with the following where the title would be
???en.null???
Also got partial pages with no threads or top performers, etc.
This just started about 15:15 CDT

Re: Please Report Forums Issues -- October 2003!
I can get into the forums and see the posts but as soon as I go into a specific post, I can see the buttons but not the post itself.
Is this due to the version I am using or is it something else?

Re: Please Report Forums Issues -- October 2003!
Ronnelle, yes it is the version. I've opened a case to get this fixed. In the meantime, you'll need to use a different version of Netscape or use another browser type.
Michael, I noticed that late last week...and have opened a case to get it iixed.
Thanks,
Dan

Re: Please Report Forums Issues -- October 2003!
Iâ ve been doing my best to keep away from complaining, but there are a few things I would like to address real quick (if they have been addressed recently then please forgive me. I donâ t have enough time to read through a thread this long right now).
I have been experiencing some issues with getting threads to come up from the little daily run-downs that you have gotten going again (nice work on that, BTW). I didnâ t mark the first two, but this last one was the infamous straw that did such bad things to the camelâ s back.
When I try to pull this string up I get nothing but a blank page:
http://forums.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=239737
I have been having this same issue with several threads from the daily reports. Any ideas?
While Iâ m at it, I notice that the issues with the line spacing have been resolved. I am grateful for that. I also notice that those of us that choose to run our posts/replies trough a word processor (ie. M$ Word) prior to posting them still have issues with the apostrophes and other punctuations creating strange things in the forums. Any chance of getting that issue addressed as well as you did with the paragraph spacing?
You will notice it in this response simply because I do not want to take the time to manually clean it up. Sometimes demonstrations are the most effective way to get a point across...
Thanks for li

Re: Please Report Forums Issues -- October 2003!
Thanks for your complete description. I suspect the link you were directed to was a thread that was initiated (new) for that day, but then was summarily removed due to content. However, I will see if we can query the database and determine if there is good data that should be presented (or if it was truly removed). Secondly, I was not aware of the apostrophe issue...perhaps due to never really using them?? Anyhow, I appreciate you telling me (and I apologize to anyone previously reporting this!).
Thanks,
Dan

Re: Please Report Forums Issues -- October 2003!
You are quite welcome (although I didn't realize it was all that complete).
If it would be of further assistance, I am stuck using M$ Windoze 2k & XP with a combination of M$ Office 2k & XP as well.
The punctuation issue seems to be present with both of them.
I use a simple process of copy -> paste to move it from the word processor to the web formâ ¦
(The strange little thing at the end of the sentence above is supposed to be three periods. It seems as if those get garbled

Re: Please Report Forums Issues -- October 2003!
Found out that the message you pointed me to was moved. The daily update is pointing to the URL that no longer contains any content. versus the new location at http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=237037. I'll see what can be done. Also, it may be Word that is introducing unseen characters in your sentence string that causes the apostrophe reformatting. You might try editing in notepad or in the reply window.
Thanks,
Dan

Procura, the lab is still working on the Opera issue. They are closing in on a fix for Netscape 4.79 and will need to work on getting it into a build. Please hang in there.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues -- October 2003!
Out of curiosity (and because I'm not absolutely ecstatic with Mozilla under HP-UX), I downloaded the latest Netscape 7.0 from software.hp.com, installed it, and found that content was invisible. I could see the home page, but as soon as I opened a thread, there was nothing there!
Frankly, the best behaving browser I've found is M$IE, which I have to use at home because it's all I've got. Obviously that's where most of the development effort went. I know it's tough to take all possible browsers and all possible platforms into consideration, but I find it a little distressing that the HP recommended solutions under HP-UX just aren't up to snuff. Mozilla's not bad but has a few issues like not being able to open attachments, among others, and Netscape just plain doesn't work.
Please send along our encouragements to the team. We realize the amount of effort required and we're trying to be patient, thanks!

Re: Please Report Forums Issues -- October 2003!
I can't say that I am happy with the idea that you have given on using notepad instead of some word processor. The entire reason for using a word processor is to help eliminate typos and flat our spelling mishaps (spelling has never been one of my strong points). If I am going to type it into Notepad, then I may as well just type it directly into the web box and forget it.
I know we made the jump from M$ to HP-UX on this latest rebuild and, consequently, some of the M$ stuff may not be as readily understood as it used to be, but there are man, MANY other web sites out there that don't use M$ as their primary web server OS and they have been able to find a way around the issue of a paste directly from M$ Word. Surely you wouldn't suggest that your team is any less talented than anyone else, would you?
Pete,
Sorry to have to go against you in public, but I use Netscape 7 almost exclusively at home and the only problem I have is when I try to follow a link to another thread. In M$ Internet Exploder, this kicks off a Java script that opens a new browser window. In Netscape it will open in the same window forcing you to hit the back button. Other than that, it works great.
Are you sure that you don't have an issue with your load of Netscape at the office? I find it hard to believe, but I guess it's always possible. Or is there some fundamental difference between the M$ version of Netscape vs. the HP-UX version?
Just a thought...
John

Procura, thanks for the list.
John, sorry, didn't mean to imply notepad was a better solution. I misunderstood your reasons for using Word. Nonetheless, I did report the problem you are seeing, so hopefully they lab can find a fix (and to confirm, yes they are very talented!).
Thanks,
Dan

Re: Please Report Forums Issues -- October 2003!
Feel free to go against me any time! I certainly don't mind suggestions, criticism, ribbing, even flames (not too many, please).
I also use Netscape on my craptop at work and it works fine, so yes, you're right, there's a difference between HP-UX Netscape and Winblowze Netscape!
That's what I'm whining about. I'm participating in a HP-UX forum, so I prefer to show my loyalty to the platform by accessing said forum via HP-UX and it's preferred browser(s), which don't work all that great!
Cheers,
Pete
