Re: Please Report Forums Issues -- October 2003!

No luck with Opera from here either. I wonder how hard it must be, that they start with fixing the least important things first.

Enjoy, have FUN! H.Merijn [ Still sarcatic, and still praying for Opera support to return to this arena ]

Re: Please Report Forums Issues -- October 2003!

Michael, I believe you may be searching on 'manuals', or at least have the 'manuals' checkbox clicked in the search UI. If I search on your keyword string with only the forums checkbox clicked, I get valid thread URLs. Here are the top 4:

100 ITRC Forum 2001 Jun 27 cannot export DISPLAY to workstation from server

98 ITRC Forum 2003 Jul 08 Oracle 806 - How to reset (zero) SCN ?

74 ITRC Forum 2002 Jun 03 HP 4500DN Drum Counter Reset

72 ITRC Forum 2002 Oct 22 Using SAM to create dev files so I can get X windows to load on RP2470

The results you reported are from a 'manuals' search. If this is not the case, please let me know.

**********************

Huc, you should only receive one email. Do you possibly have two userids that are currently subscribed?

Aparna, the service unavailable error was fixed , hence you can update your notifications. Also, the fix that went in today takes care of the blank line issue...yeah!

Still working on the Opera submit issue.

Thanks,
Dan

Re: Please Report Forums Issues -- October 2003!

I think you may have fixed the 404 and no service bugs anyway. I've posted at least 6 times today and it hasn't failed once.

If the blank line above this sentence remains then I guess you have fixed that too.

Note to the opera people.

Have you tried deleting or backing up your cookies and trying again.

That helped once with past problems.

I don't have opera yet.

Huc, for the userid that you don't want the email, you can login and remove the subscriptions. If you can't remember your login credentials, let me know what the userid is....

Patrick, thanks...I'll let the lab know.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues -- October 2003!

Dan,

I would like to offer an good-natured observation, on a leisurely Saturday afternoon:

1. I think most of us would agree that, when the recently-converted Apache Forums are having a good day, the performance is nothing less than stunning, setting an industry standard;

2. Unfortunately, there are well-documented problems that persist. Since HP is a signficant player in the *nix market, I am bewildered as to why these problems are allowed to drag on;

3. IMHO, HP should be Setting the Standard in conversions to HP-UX. If HP has had such a rocky time of it, what are mere mortal corporations to draw from this experience?

Re: Please Report Forums Issues -- October 2003!

Michael, please refer to my earlier reply and let me know if what I was referring to is what you are experiencing. If not, please provide the exact steps you took. Again, the 'forums' search is only enabled if you search from the keyword window at the top of this page, or click 'more options' and search from the ITRC search UI. Either approach should produce valid results using your keywords.

Huc -- you should now only get one email update.

Jay, thanks for the vent...the performance issues post new release should be cleaned up. Certainly a migration of this size was complex. Thanks for hanging in there.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues -- October 2003!

Deleteing cookies indeed wroked in the past. In this case a clean install of both 7.21 on Linux and 7.30 on Win2k didn't solve the submit issue.

FWIW in the past, the biggest (opera) issue was failing to assign points. That works. Currently only preview and submit don't work.

It's all part of the evil plan to work me out of the top-20 again :)

Hi,

Please take a look at this thread ( time of the question 24:41:53 GMT ):

If anybody has reported this previously ... sorry.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues -- October 2003!

Zigor, checked it out...the member will need to provide more information for a suitable response.

Michael, the search engine you're referring to is for the ITRC knowledge database, not the forums. The results are certainly odd. I'll forward what you have found to the ITRC support team and have them close the loop. If future issues arise regarding areas of the ITRC search other than forums, you can report them via the "online help" link in upper left of this page.

Thanks,
Dan

Re: Please Report Forums Issues -- October 2003!

Hi Dan,

It looks to me like we are talking about different things. I was referring to the time of the question ( 24:41:53 GMT ), not the question itself.
Since you have not noticed the "real" problem, I have searched in Google, wondering if I was wrong with my assumption ... and YES!
Please forgive my ignorance, but till now I never saw the hour number 24 ( always format 00-23 ).
Well ... this explains why nobody reported that "strange" error in the hour ;-)

This is the second time that I bored you with a "false" problem ... very sorry ... next time I will be quiet ( following a great advise from Groucho Marx ).

Kind regards,
Zigor

Re: Please Report Forums Issues -- October 2003!

The 404s have started again. This is my second one:

Could Not Open URL
The URL you requested does not exist or is not retrievable at this site. You can return to the HP IT Resource Center home page (itrc.hp.com).
(Error HTTP_404)

This is the URL. Perhaps it has an illegal character or something? I had to retype it and the second attempt worked but I left out one of the URLs.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues -- October 2003!

Dan,

I've started getting official looking email newsletters claiming to be from Hewlett-Packard but they are really from: HewlettPackard@hplj.m0.net

whois says:

m0.net

Registrant:

Are these real or some spammer's?

Re: Please Report Forums Issues -- October 2003!

Hi Ron,

Pretty sure digital impact is a service provider that handles the subscription publishing services for HP. Their email should not read like it does (I recall this happening in the past). I'll get it reported to our communication folks.

Thanks,
Dan
