You know it's the simplest solutions you most overlook.

Thanks Pete!

Re: Please Report Forums Issues -- October 2003!

Just missed out on a Bunny because of the no response when I submitted an answer and when I back paged the answer was gone and I had to go to a meeting and I had forgotten to save it before posting so couldn't resubmit right away. When I got back the guy had solved his problem and it was my answer but I never got my suggestion in. Just venting but it would be nice if you could fix all of your network problems so we didn't see so many no responses. Seems like every other time I submit I get a no response. This happens almost instantaneously so it's not the typical network down timeout and it doesn't seem to be dependent on the time of day.

Spent a lot of time researching this thread and my posting's gone. I'd like a reason please because I'm ready to start making phone calls.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues -- October 2003!

The 404 and service unavailable messages have been getting more frequent.

My speed though has been excellent day and night.

I have missed out on a few bunnies due to the 404 error. I know, no big deal, I have 800 others, but thats not the point.

I know HP is working on this but we could use a little more feedback on when progress on whats going on with these issues.

The user experience is in my opinion improving but in need of further improvement. This forum should be treated more like a production system. I know its considered production, but you guys have missed testing opportunities with the user. I would have been castigated for rolling out a system in the condition forums was in when it rolled in September.

Once again, next time around, I'd be happy to help test.

Got the 404 error once before the post worked.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues -- October 2003!

No 404 errors at all today myself and everything seems fine to me.

SEP, how do you calculate how many bunnies you have? I haven't seen mine since I got them and I'm sure they need feeding by now.

Who are you to complain about a single bunny? I'm totally banned out with Opera not functioning, so I don't get any points at all!

Dan,

Each time I do a search on ITRC, I'm redirected to the US site and then it tell's me I could not login. I click on the European site and then the search is done.

Before the search, I was already logged in of course but on the European site.

Dan
I used to get daily emails entitled "New HP Forum Discussions ", but not any more.
The most recent was for Thu Sep 18 17:30:23 PDT 2003.
Has this service been discontinued or have I inadvertently opted out?
I did have to change my password a few days ago.

Does it look a bit odd to you too? Supposed to be 2 replies but I only see the one scrambled. IE6.0SP1. I see the same thing on WIN2K and NT.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues -- October 2003!

I think Dan and Co must have managed to fix the post I was complaining about since I can read it now too. I tried it on two PCs and it was scrambled. If you read the reply from the author you can see he thought I was asking for "the Specs" which is all that showed when it was scrambled so bad. I guess the URL had some funky character in it which caused it to flip out.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues -- October 2003!

Okay Michael,

I did ask zero for me.

404's and service unavailable still happen at random. My subjective impression is that its happening less often.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues -- October 2003!

Hi All,

Sorry for the late reply.....the alligators were nipping.

We have a planned fix that will be going out tonight (cross your fingers). This should take care of the occasional 404s and service unavailable errors -- and along with it the preview error and edit notification error. Also, the carriage return blank lines will be fixed.

Ron, your thread was cleaned up yesterday asap. The reason is that an equal sign (=) is the last character in the posted URL. Remove it and things are good. I've submitted a request for this fix too.

The daily email notifications are having a problem and we hope the fix tonight will get things running again...sorry for the delay.

Thanks, and thanks for your patience and great help.

Re: Please Report Forums Issues -- October 2003!

Hi Dan:

This one blows me away because I believe it may be an example of permanent database corruption. Its certainly a list of truncated message links from the Forum search engine. For putting 'xclock' into the Forum search engine yields a display of message fragments without some active links. And clicking on these message fragments activates nothing.

They are just garbage displays of message fragments.

Here's my favorite:

68 Manual 1997 Jul
HP-UX 10.x -

And here's the whole hit list. Note the third message fragment is also a inactive link:
