Hi Dan,

great to see the *new* thread - we were afraid something happened to you (other than the current epidemic of replacing "_" with "." at hp... ;-)

Hi Dan,

These are some things I would implement to make forums even better.

- develop better advanced search engine

- restrict posting rights for those users who haven't estimated more than N answers

- encourage question authors to write summaries how their problems have been solved

Just my two cents.

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for October 2002

I missed some more ideas.

- encourage question authors to write down a list of keywords in a special field.

- encourage question authors to choose meaningful subjects (not 'Question', not 'Omniback', not 'Unix').

That could improve searching and browsing. Some posting style recommendations could help to keep the forums clean.

BR,
Mihails

Hi Dan,

These are some things I would implement to make forums even better.

- restrict posting rights for those users who haven't estimated more than N answers
-----------------------------------------------

This would somewhat defeat the purpose, as alot of the questions posted are from "new to HP-UX admins" who don't really know an awful lot and need some help from the guru's!

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for October 2002

Hi Dan,

no search possible at the moment, only: IT resource center busy. :-((

Something often asked yet: Is it possible to get separate columns for responses N/A and 0-7? Can you give a statement about that?

Also asked yet: Is it possible to get another place for the reply? At the left and at the bottom of a question would make the answering better.
Because I first read the other replies. Then I have to 'search' the reply-botton.

And it would be nice to have a area like in the 'business customer discussion groups': general feedback, usage, and help

Many thanks for your work
Volkmar

Dan,

Really spotty performance this morning, 6:30 to 7:10 AM EDT. Some threads opened expediently, others vveerryy sslloowwllyy, a few I gave up on and one crashed my browser (Sys-Admin Humor of all things).

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for October 2002

Dan,

It just took me 18 minutes (from 7:54 to 8:12 AM EDT) to open this thread. I got a couple of "connection reset by peer" messages, otherwise, it was "host ..... contacted, waiting for reply".

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for October 2002

Hi Dan:

Things are very, very sick here this morning. It took me about 3-minutes to get a response from a login request. I have received "cannot display page" errors in response to a post and I have waited up to two minutes for simple page refreshes. What's the problem?

Regards!

I'm getting 404 errors here

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for October 2002

8:12 to 8:25 - now it's down to 13 minutes. I guess that's an improvement but I'm still a little disappointed with response overall.

Once I get the question open, the submittal seems (so far) to be OK, and I can "return to hp-ux" OK, but the next question I try to open goes off to la-la land.

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for October 2002

OK, I'll take that back, too. It took 6 minutes to submit, then I got a 404 error trying to re-open this thread, now I'm getting the infamous "error processing SSI file".

Aarrghh!

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for October 2002

Hi (again) Dan:

The symptoms today also include 404- and ssi- errors as we so too often see.

The problem I reported about 10-days ago where the response to a submission is so long (30+ seconds sometimes) persists. In fact, I was easily able to amend the wording in my post above while it was being processsed to cause the double post you saw.

Regards!

I'm having the same problems as James, Pete, Alan, and Dave today.

For example, on this reply screen I'm writing in now, on the left of the text box there is this message

Error processing SSI file '/com.hp.itrc_Core/com.hp.itrc_Core_TopLeft_Welcome/1,11958,,00.html'

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for October 2002

Two errors this morning:

Error processing SSI file '/cm/FamilyHomeContent/1,11868,LoggedIn!117,00.html'

And then another error trying to get the "Forums Issues"! Ironic.

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for October 2002

Hi Dan,

Same as the other posters, I'm having lots of 404 errors and having to reload pages multiple times to get them loaded. I see that we are experiencing a solar storm at the moment. Ever looked to see if the ITRC problems happen at the same time as big solar flares? ;)
