Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for October 2002

- restrict posting rights for those users who haven't estimated more than N answers
----------------
This would somewhat defeat the purpose, as alot of the questions posted are from "new to HP-UX admins" who don't really know an awful lot and need some help from the guru's!
------------------------

To Chuck J.

You didn't understand me. My idea is very simple. Rate answers first, then ask new questions. It's a defeat only for those users who never assign points for the answers they got.

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for October 2002

I'm getting lots of "Page not found" errors, "error processing SSI file" errors. I'm having to reload pages almost all the time.

Hi Dan,

this is pretty bad, today!
Now single page without reload, almost always multiple reloads needed...

:-(

Whatever someone did to the forums, would you mind reverting it?

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for October 2002

Hello All,

The issues you are encountering in the forums are related to a networking problem across the ITRC. The support teams have corrected this issue and things should return to normal for you. If not, please let me know. There may be a need for you to refresh pages that you have tried to access in the past few hours.

Thanks,
Dan

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for October 2002

Hi Dan,

Yep, it's been pretty nasty today.

Here's an interesting problem. I posted a reply, found a typo in it, and posted an "Oops" reply. The "Oops" reply shows up in the list before the reply it was intended to refer to.

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0xb554b10230dcd61190050090279cd0f9,00.html

I hope that't the correct url. For some reason I can't cut and paste it into this reply window. Looks like a MS Windows reboot coming up!

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for October 2002

Good Day Dan,

I am seeing an interesting thing in my profile.

Let me give you some background first -- I went in last night to assign points to the new responses in my Sys Admin Humor II thread ( http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0xa28d402f24d5d61190050090279cd0f9,00.html ) There were 3 responses needing points assigned. I attempted to do that, but the Forums were not responding. I waited 2-3 minutes, hit stop and then reload. I waited on this for a while, and then attempted to go to the hp-ux Family home page. This didn't work either. I finally wound up getting some 425 errors and no number of Reloads would help.

I came in this morning to finish assigning points. I went to my profile and saw that I had assigned points to 578 of 579 responses. Interesting since I didn't think my points assignment last night had worked. I got the the thread and noticed that 1 response out of the 3 that I tried to assign points to had received points, the other 2 hadn't. But the stats showed that 2 out of 3 should have received points.

I successfully assigned points to the other 2 responses this morning and now my profile shows "This member has assigned points to 580 of 579 responses to his/her questions." I like that I have a 100.17% rate of assigning points, but something strange happened somewhere along the lines.

Congratulations Patrick - you have just entered the "Procura zone" (just picture Rod Serling - if you're old enough to go back that far).

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for October 2002

I'm glad to be back in business, but this morning all replies or new posts from EU ID's were relayed throught US sites :(((

No way to answer.

Now we're back, and yeah, have you guys worked hard at the interface! [ ] send e-mail on this thread, reply buttons on the bottom, and who knows what else we will see.

Do we get notifications on the first (or the selected) addresses if we have more than one e-mail hanging on the profile?

Were can we complain if we cannot reach the forum like this morning. If I cannot post, there's no way to let you know right now. Deadlock.
Enjoy, Have FUN! H.Merijn

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for October 2002

Dan,

I like the new little changes, especially the buttons at the bottom!

BUT, the SEARCH engine ain't working!

This is the url I had:

http://us-support2.external.hp.com/emse/bin/doc.pl/sidaee96ae51aa08935cd?todo=search&searchtext
upgrade&x=0&y=0&searchcriteria
allwords&searchtype
SEARCH_FORUMS&searchcategory
ALL&rn=25&presort=rank

I was searching for just the word "update", with the forums button clicked, and no other options modified, and this was the result:

Your search for upgrade produced no results!

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for October 2002

hi dan,

had given this suggestion ealier as well. no update/response.

is it possible to have a mailling list on this site. it would be more easier to query and respond to queries thru mail rather than visiting the site often. - thought it might bring down the no of hits on this site :-(

comments?

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for October 2002

Hi Dan,

Here is a thread that has a weird layout problem. The last reply shows up on the right side of the previous post. It's not a big problem or anything, but when I read the thread and I get to the bottom, it makes me turn my head to the side like a dog that just heard a high-pitched sound. Then again, it could just be too much caffeine. ;)

Re: Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Issues for October 2002

YES BABY, the search works and even the BOOLEAN search works!!!!!! Now I don't have to use the word "stupid" in boolean searches as the first searchword, ie where I used to type in

stupid AND upgrade AND 11i AND 10.20

I can now use

upgrade AND 11i AND 10.20

YES, good job! Thanks Dan and company!
