Problem with recovery using ignite for HP-UX 10.20
I try to recover system using recovery tape created on different station. After recovery start server hangs up and on screen i can only noticed that core dumped and there is no information what it caused. We upgraded our ignite-x to version A.3 ... but problem is still the same.
Has anyone any idea what i can do with it.

Re: Problem with recovery using ignite for HP-UX 10.20
It doesn't matter what version of Ignite is installed, it matters what version of Ignite the tape was made with.
If the servers are too different from the hardware standpoint its going to fail.
Take a look at the log files and post the last few messages.

Re: Problem with recovery using ignite for HP-UX 10.20
When restoring on another system it is important that they are alike in architecture.
What model are the systems?
Also how far in the installation process does it fail?
Regards,
Trond

Re: Problem with recovery using ignite for HP-UX 10.20
First, the tape from what model to what model ? Is the same model ? Please specified.
If your system is server (S800), dont use the tape from workstation (S700). There will be a good if the tape comes from the similar model.
Did you already have the pax cumulative patch on your system ? Did you update this patch also ?
# swlist -l product |grep pax
Is the backup tape good ? Did you verify it ? Check the document below (docID : KBRC00010817) about 'verifying a good make_tape_recovery tape' :
http://www1.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/docDisplay.do?docLocale=en_US&docId=200000079991851
Hope this information can help you.
Cheers,
AW

Re: Problem with recovery using ignite for HP-UX 10.20
At least you have the tape from similar model HP9000 C110 workstation.
But since you cannot see the harddisk from SEA, it's better you check this one first. Try to unplug and reconnect the harddisk, check the SCSI cable.
The problem could be due to the faulty harddisk.
Hope this can help you.
Cheers,
AW
