Product number through cstm/mstm/xstm or other
Could you tell me how to obtain the product
number via cstm/mstm/xstm ?
I need it to open cases via itrc , it's not easy
to find it on the machine ...
Best regards.

Re: Product number through cstm/mstm/xstm or other
Try this command.
# echo "selclass qualifier system;info;wait;infolog" | /usr/sbin/cstm > /tmp/cstm_log
# cat /tmp/cstm_log

Re: Product number through cstm/mstm/xstm or other
To get the some info on cstm itself:
swlist -l product | grep -i B6191AAE
or grep for Online or Diagnostic
Also: whence cstm

Re: Product number through cstm/mstm/xstm or other
product number of what?
With 'ioscan' you get informations about your peripherial hardware.
With 'graphinfo|head' about your graphic card.

Re: Product number through cstm/mstm/xstm or other
When I run your command on a model J6xxxx :
cstm>
selclass qualifier system;info;wait;infolog
^-- Unknown list entry. --
The list entry (system) is undefined.
On model rp7410 it's working fine ...

Re: Product number through cstm/mstm/xstm or other
The version you have is the STM 03/2002, latest for 11.0 is 03/2004 stm A.44.00.
But I don't know if the latest version will show the product numbers of a J6xxx.

Re: Product number through cstm/mstm/xstm or other
it's the same.
The difference between J6xxx and RP7410 is that
rp7410 is a server and J6700 is a workstation.
May be this is why it's working fine on the
rp7410 , isn't it ?
regards.

Re: Product number through cstm/mstm/xstm or other
I have Version A.41.00 on a C3600 (the same cpu) - RJ's command doesn't work here, too.
Maybe in Merijn's FAQ?

Re: Product number through cstm/mstm/xstm or other
'model' will give you something like that:
9000/785/C3600
Then you can search at HP Part Store for the right product number.

Re: Product number through cstm/mstm/xstm or other
Is it the product number of the system, the version of the OnlineDiags, or something else?
Regarding the failure of the:
# echo "selclass qualifier system;info;wait;infolog" | /usr/sbin/cstm
command, workstations don't have the 'system' option in STM as they don't support the low level calls needed to provide this interface.
If it's the version of the OnlineDiags you want, either the 'version' option of STM, or looking at the swlist output will enable you identify this, though the two methods will give different values. See http://www.docs.hp.com/en/diag/stm/stm_upd.htm#table for how the different id strings correspond.

Re: Product number through cstm/mstm/xstm or other
have you tried the 'model' command?
With 'man model' you get an explanation of the command.
You should get something like 9000/785/J6xxx.
J6000 has the product number: A5990A or A7197A
J6700 - A6055A, A6055B, A7252A, A7252B,
A7278A, A7278B, A7279A, A7279B
J6750 - A9638A, A9639A, A9640A, A9641A
Hmm - any guru who can explain the different product numbers?

Re: Product number through cstm/mstm/xstm or other
Do you have Ignite installed on the J6xxx ?
# print_manifest
will also report the serial number.

Re: Product number through cstm/mstm/xstm or other
The difference is based on many things such as how many processors, the MHZ of each, chip version, how much RAM, etc.
Any difference in these variables, requires a machine to have it's own part number.
If you need more information, contact your HP sales rep or HW. They can help you further.
