Quantum dlt vs80 drive and ioscan
Hi all, I can't seem to get a tape drive seen using ioscan, looks like it only shows the brand name but shows no_hw, unknown, here's an output of ioscan -fn, any pointers would be great, thanks.
# cd etc
# ./ioscan -fn

Re: Quantum dlt vs80 drive and ioscan
Shalom,
I will now filter the output for you.
Wide LVD
target 10 0/1/1/1.0 tgt NO_HW DEVICE
unknown -1 0/1/1/1.0.0 NO_HW UNKNOWN BNCHMARKDLT1
target 11 0/1/1/1.1 tgt NO_HW DEVICE
unknown -1 0/1/1/1.1.0 NO_HW UNKNOWN BNCHMARKDLT1
Thats your tape drive.
I'd say there is a problem with the LVD scsi card or the drive itself. Please check cabling, scsi ID as obvious candidates for being the cause here.

Re: Quantum dlt vs80 drive and ioscan
Thanks for the reply Steven, let me tell you more about the server, it's a fairly new RP3410 we got in the beginning of the year, and it all came pre-configured off the reseller, it has 3 scsi hdd's in it (1st & 3rd ones mirrored), I actually called HP right when I was 1st trying to install the tape drive about a month ago, but they told me that because there's 3 hdd's, there's no more room for the tape drive and that I need another scsi adapter for it, I tried different ID's also with no luck as well as a different cable. We were gonna try and sell the tape drive since it's still new, and get a HP tape drive to see if it works.
