How does one identify if there ram is HP or other then HP ram? Sys_Info does not and neither does stm. Please advise.

Re: RAM Identifier

Open the box and look. The whole idea or 3rd-party RAM is that it's compatible and thus indistinguishable to the system.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: RAM Identifier

Hi John,

You could try the bch prompt

http://docs.hp.com/en/A5201-10028/ch04s03.html

otherwise you will have to open the box and physical check the DIMM's.

Hope this helps,

Re: RAM Identifier

Shalom John,

cstm will show you what is where. I don't think there is a way to make the system identify the manufacturer of the ram.

My usual approach in this case is to shut down the box and look inside.

There really isn't much point in identifying the manufacturer anyway.
