Can data saved to tape by omniback be recovered without the omniback database (assuming one knows on which tape the data is stored)?

Solution
Dave, Yes (more or less). You have to first
import the media which loads it into the database. If you have a totally corrupt database you will need to do an omnidbinit to create a new database (and lose all sessions)
but otherwise you simply import the media and then do the restore as you normally would.
From xomni
Device & Media Management
then Under the Configured Media Pools section select an appropriate pool e.g. 'Default DDS'
and doulbe-click on it.
Next Edit->Import.
Insert the media and select the logical device.
Set Logging to 'Log All'. That should finish the Import and then you're set to restore.
If the database is totally blown away you will have to configure the device first.
Hope this gets you started. -- Clay
