Regarding VCS

I just wanted to know that how to find which filesystems are in VCS cluster on a particular node, if that node is in VCS with another node.

Shalom,

The concept behind a shared filesystem is that the filesystem itself sits on shared storage and it does not matter what node is active and presenting the filesystem to the applications and the rest of the network.

A little more detail might be helpful in assisting you. OS, version, product, model of system, storage, things like that. So I can put away my crystal ball.

if you want to view the veristas cluster file system

gabconfig -a # Shows the state of the VCS resources required to implement clustering.

The letters returned from gabconfig -a mean the resource is available on a particular node:

a gab driver
b I/O fencing (designed to guarantee data integrity)
d ODM (Oracle Disk Manager)
f CFS (Cluster File System)
h VCS (VERITAS Cluster Server: high availability daemon)
o VCSMM driver (kernel module needed for Oracle and VCS interface)
q QuickLog daemon
v CVM (Cluster Volume Manager)
w vxconfigd (module for cvm)



[edit]With regard to the GAB driver(Port a)
The /etc/gabtab file will contain the number of nodes defined in the cluster. During an initial build, the cluster won't fully start until all nodes are seen. The gabtab is in the following format:

/sbin/gabconfig -c -n2

Thanks a lot for your reply. I have to really study VCS from basics as I do not have much knowledge of VCS. Can I get some document or something like that.

The OS is HP-UX, version is 11.11, model is L3000 and XP array storage.

Thanks for your inputs but I did not get much from this, the question which I have put up is totally different from this.

If a node is in cluster then all the filesystems mounted on will also be in cluster. Is that so ?

Hi Kavitha
in a perticular node if the node is in active state local file system plus cluster files will be in that node in inactive node only local file system

if both nodes are active active state both node will have full file system
