Replace an HBA under NPIV configuration

Hi, in an HP-UX 11.31 and VM 6.3.0 configuration I have to replace a faulty HBA on which several LUNs on 3 VPARs are cofigured in NPIV. I ask what is the correct procedure to follow. Thank you Gabriele.

Re: Replace an HBA under NPIV configuration

Thanks for your help.

The HBA is a HP AH401A 8Gb Dual. The host is a SD2 in production and the HBA was replaced due to eccessive CRC errors.  The LUN configured on the three guest are in NPIV and multipathing. The HW replacement was done by stopping the superdome. The path where the LUNs were configured for this HBA was turned off at the time of replacement. After booting the host and the guests, the path has been re-enabled . Host side it's appear in a correct state:

fcmsutil /dev/fcd8

I cannot find a gvsdmgr command to rescan the configuration. Might a reboot be required?

Re: Replace an HBA under NPIV configuration

Hi, I have reboot the VM's configured with the replaced HBA and VM NPIV configuration is now active.

therefore there is no gvsdmgr / ioscan command to refresh the configuration, it is mandatory to restart the VM.
