RM/Cobol on HPUX 11.0

Can anybody tell me that RM/Cobol can be used on HPUX 11.0, L3000 without any problems ?

Customer bought RM/Cobol years ago and they used that on HPUX 9.0X that time and he upgraded HPUX to HPUX 10.20.
He simply copied cobol files to /bin on HPUX 10.20. - NO recompile.
No problem.

Now, He bought L3000 and did the exactly same thing as he did on HPUX 9.0X before for cobol.
Now, he got a problem because two of cobol processes are comsumming almost 95% CPU all the time.
If I kill them by executing "kill -9 ", the current CPU percentage drops below 10% in a minute.

He said that he got a cobol from a local distributor and continued to say that people there mentiond that RM/Cobol is not dependent on HPUX version but on either HP3000 or HP9000.

I believe that this problem comes from RM/Cobol itself but he insisted that he has been using this product for years without no problem.
I said that HPUX 11.0 is different from HPUX 9.0X or 10.20 so that there might be a problem comming from it.
He doesn't take my word any more and trust a local Cobol distributor.

Any opinion would be greatly helpful.
Never say "no" first.

Re: RM/Cobol on HPUX 11.0

I can't comment on RM/Cobol , but MicroFocus Cobol required different versions for HPUX 9 , 10 and 11. HP-UX 9.04 required MF/Cobol 3.2.
HP-UX 10.10 amd 10.20 could use either Cobol 3.2 or 4.0. HP-UX 11.00 needs MF/Cobol 4.1. This may help.

He probably needs to upgrade to newer version of RM/Cobol.

They do tout portibility, but its a crock, when you don't get performance by locally compiling!
