I have a RP7410 running HPUX 11.i. I increased the space from 800 meg to 2 gig. When I look at in SAM it shows 2000, however the space isn't there yet. BDF still shows 800 . I reboot the machine and it came up the same way. How do I get that space available to me?

Solution
It seems that you just increase the size of the logical volume, not the file system.
For example the device file of FS is /dev/vg06/lvol3:
Unmount the file system first:
$ umount /dev/vg06/lvol3
Extend the file system to occupy the entire logical volume. Here we use the raw device file: /dev/vg06/rlvol3
$ extendfs /dev/vg06/rlvol3
Remount the file system again.
$ mount /dev/vg06/lvol3 /mnt
Good luck

Re: sam expanding space
hi sam,
when in sam, i think you increase the size of logical volume and that will not increase the filesystem size.
Assuming you increase /dev/vg01/lvol2 from 800mb to 2000mb (/data)
CHeck current size.
# df /data
From command line, umount the filesystem which uses /dev/vg01/lvol2 (eg. /data)
# umount /data
Then, extend the filesystem
# extendfs -F vxfs /dev/vg01/rlvol2
Mount /data back and you will see size difference.
# mount /dev/vg01/lvol2 /data
# df /data
Do let us know the outcome.

Re: sam expanding space
Hi Jeff,
If you have OnlineJFS installed, use fsadm command.
#fsadm -F vxfs -b
That will allow you to increase the File System with out unmount.. Else, unmount the file system, and use extendfs command and mount the file syetm again.
for more detail please see the doc.
