Samba 2.2.3a on HP-UX 10.20

Hi, I??ve installed samba 2.2.3a by swinstall (depot), but after install, just a /opt/samba directory is created. I noticed there is no smb.conf in my sistem.

How can I do for correct install???

Hi,

Looks like the full product didn't get installed. What do you get with the following command?.

swlist -l file samba

Replace samba with what appears in "swlist" command.

Hi Saulo,

I didn't say swlist would help you fix the problem. It will only help you verify the installation.

Now, do a tar tvf samba.depot (or whatever the depot you used) and look at the contents. They should have /opt/samba directory hierarchy listed.

It looks to me like the complete product didn't get installed.

In the samba depot display only /opt/samba directory. Inside him have another dirs.(ex.: bin,lib,man,doc...)

Can you execute /opt/samba/bin/swat?.
GUI for samba configuration. If it works, then try creating a samba share. It should create a smb.conf file.

See, what all I am trying to do is to find if the binaries got installed or not. If you do a 'find /opt/samba' do you get any files under directories like bin, man etc.?

I don't think samba comes with a default smb.conf file with the package. YOu will need to create one. You don't need to have a graphic console to the box. If you have exceed or some X-windows emulation software, you can export display over there and execute swap.
Good documentation on smb.conf is given here. YOu will need to create one under /opt/samba/lib/smb.conf (default)
