We built ours with "HFS" file systems. We don't have any qualified software to run on the JFS. I would like to get us moving on this..is it pretty easy to convert the file system, or should be best just to re-ignite the box? Tks. You guys are incredible!

SolutionIf you wish to convert your root filesystem from hfs to jfs, you will have to use ignite to do a make_recovery and reinstall the os using the recovery tape. For Non-root filesystems you will have to take a backup and then recreate the filesystem as vxfs, doesn't look like there is an easy way out from this.
wonder how you landed with hfs, you don't need qualified applications for jfs. All hfs applications are compliant and vxfs is faster.
Here is a thread for more info.

Hope this helps.
thanks

Re: SuperDome
Your best option is to just re-ignite the box.
You will save yourself a lot of time and energy
by doing this. In regards to other filesystems
that are not part of the /dev/vg00 volume group, you would need to take a backup and then recreate the filesystem.
# newfs -F vxfs /dev/yourvg/ryourlv
I have never seen any piece of software that
won't run on a JFS filesystem as opposed to HFS.

How's about hpux? the bootstrap!
What has this got to do with the superdome in any case.
Ignite is your safest, supported, bet.
