swinstall of OnlineJFS for 3.3 fails with /sbin/vxlicense: not found. Any ideas?

I'm trying to install OnlineJFS using the "HP JFS 3.3 and HP OnlineJFS 3.3 Release Notes for HP-UX 11.00" and am having no luck.

Here's what I'm getting when running swinstall. Any ideas?

Hi Jack,

Instead of running the swinstall from the command line with options, why don't you run the swinstall command and then use the interactive menu to do the install.

You need a codeword to install the Online JFS product. Without the codeword, the product will not be activated. You can get the codeword from HP electronically using:

http://licensing.hp.com

Once you have the license key, just enter it either interactively or on the command line by adding: -x codeword="1234-5678-9abcd-deff"

The fact you ar emissing the /sbin/vxlicense command is th ebit that seems to be the problemn here.
do swlist -l fileset JFS and check what you get, I believe you may be nmissing a fileset.

Looks like I don't have a complete install of the Base JFS.

I'm searching for a cd that has XSWGR1100 to reinstall.

swlist -l fileset returns the following:

# JFS 3.3 JFS 3.3 base filesystem
JFS.JFS-BASE-KRN 3.3 JFS 3.3 filesystem commands


Comparing it to another server, it looks like I'm missing the following:

JFS.JFS-BASE2-KRN 3.3 JFS 3.3 filesystem kernel libraries - 64 bit
JFS.JFS-ENG-A-MAN 3.3 JFS 3.3 filesystem man pages

May be this patch -PHCO_21913 (s700_800 11.00 vxlicense(1M) JFS 3.3 cumulative patch) will help you solving your issue.

just check to see wheher you have this:

/usr/sbin/swlist -l file|grep vxlicense
JFS.JFS-BASE-KRN: /sbin/fs/vxfs3.3/vxlicense

and then
ll /sbin/vxli*
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root sys 26 Jan 19:37 /sbin/vxlicense -> /sbin/fs/vxfs3.3/vxlicense
