Time client

Hello,

I would like to set my old E-Class server as a time client, since its battery is way gone and I want it to keep the correct time.

I know I have to use xntpd and ntpq but I don't remember how exactly.

Thanks,
Vince

Re: Time client

Hi Vincent

Edit your /etc/ntp.conf file

Depending wether you are using a server or a broadcast

server
driftfile /var/adm/ntp.drift

or

broadcastclient yes
driftfile /var/adm/ntp.drift

Your daemon is

/sbin/init.d/xntpd

Activity can be checked with ntpq -p

Re: Time client

You can use SAM to do this and point the client to a server running NTP, hopefully on the internet.

SAM is your best friend for simple stuff like this.
