Re: Time for restore with a DLT4500
This is an "It Depends" answer,
1. It depends upon how busy the server is whilst the backup is occuring.
2. The size and number of the files.
3. The distribution of the files on the server.
4. The quality of the backup tape and cleanliness of the tape heads. ( Dirty heads will incur retries).
If you look at the Tech Spec for the drive it will give best rate (Very Rarly achieved), a good ball park figure is 60% of best rate on a system that is not busy.
Are you seeing excessive backup times.

It's both, short and long file.

Re: Time for restore with a DLT4500
Looking at the tape spec I would estimate a figure of approx 7 Gig / hour should be normal.
It will as I have said depend upon server and data.

Re: Time for restore with a DLT4500
Theoretical speed is 1.5Mb/s native speed. This depends on compression though. 2:1 compression yields to 3 Mb/s for example.
