unexpected reboot : data page fault, pcsq.pcoq

Hello all,
My computer had a yesterday a unexpected reboot.
In the OLDsyslog.log, the following message appears :
vmunix: Trap Type 15 (Data page fault):
vmunix: instruction Address (pcsq.pcoq) = 0x0.0x8667c (function names are not available)
Any ideas about this problem or leads to investigate ?
Thanks for your help.
Laurent.

Re: unexpected reboot : data page fault, pcsq.pcoq

This type of panic is a generic panic, usually software caused.
You do not give the OS or system model, so all I can suggest at this time is:
1)Ensure you have the latest patch bundles installed.
2)If you wnat to pursue this further, log a call with your local HP Support office.
My house is the bank's, my money the wife's, But my opinions belong to me, not HP!

Re: unexpected reboot : data page fault, pcsq.pcoq

The OS is HP-UX 11.0 and it's a D390 server.
Except in the syslog.log, where can I get some information about what's happened ?
Thanks.

Re: unexpected reboot : data page fault, pcsq.pcoq

do a more on the INDEX file under the foll directory. It will give you some details about the panic. INDEX files will be found under /var/adm/crash/crash.x/
dir. there will some more file under the above directory which will be the actual dumps created by the system. If you have HP support contract send the dump to HP to analyze it and they will recommend a solution to it.

I had this problem myself. I installed the latest ARP Transport Patch and that fixed the problem.

Re: unexpected reboot : data page fault, pcsq.pcoq

I forgot to include the patch number. PHNE_26771. My servers were crashing once a week with data page faults. I send the Crash dump to HP and a list of patch I had on my servers and they said the current ARPA patch I had had Critcal warning on it. They told me to install PHNE_26771 with its dependencys.
Here are HP comments.

(Of particular concern are the presence of 2 CRITICAL WARNING network
patches. The WARNING TEXT is attached as HTML and is indicative of
the problems you are experiencing, especially PHNE_24909.
PHNE_24715 ARPA Transport Cumulative Patch (on 100/101/200/201)
PHNE_24909 ONC/NFS General Release/Performance Patch (on 200/201)

I STRONGLY recommend these recalled patches be replaced immediately with:
PHNE_26771 ARPA Transport Cumulative Patch
PHNE_26387 ONC/NFS General Release/Performance Patch (vs PHNE_25484)
PHNE_25440 STREAMS Cumulative Patch

Re: unexpected reboot : data page fault, pcsq.pcoq

In general, trying to analyze a crash dump is very difficult without a lot of training and reference data. A data page fault means that the kernel made a serious mistake that should never happen and there have been dozens of patches that correct the underlying cause.

You can contact the HP Response Center and they can analyze the crash dump and recommend the fix. Or you can bring your system up to date on all the patches from the SupportPlus bundles.
