I support a K420 running 11.0 @ 32 bit. Some Oracle dev's need the OS at 64 bit. I usually do a cold install, almost all the time. It's been a while since I have done an upgrade. Should I follow the same upgrade instructions from going 10.20 to 11.0 and just select 64-bit during the upgrade? Has anyone done this before. Well thats a dumb question, sure you have. Any insight?

SolutionIve tried a few over the last year and all have failed or not completely successfully (too many problems afterwards). This has been discussed before and I think others had the same experiences. Now we only install cold to 64bit - no more 32->64bit upgrades!

Re: UPGRADE 32 to 64 BIT
In the models list i am seeing only
9000/893/T600 32/64
when i had plan to upgrade from 11 to 11i, HP recommended me to be ready with backup. and they asked me to just try, No guarantee of upgrade

Re: UPGRADE 32 to 64 BIT
An Ignite recovery tape would only lay back down the OS (and "bitness") from which it was created.
As for the T-series, only the T600 supports 64-bit:
