Virtual Partition and tapes for recovery

Hello,
my environment has two Vpar configured on an Npar; HPUX is 11iVi and Vpar is 3.03.
Both Vpars has DDS tapes connected, and assigned to them using the LA where the drive is pysically connected.
I can see the DAT thrugh ioscan on bot vpars, but not using vparstatus -v.
In order to use the tape for recovery (make_tape_recovery), di i need to add the DAT to vpar configuration (vparmodify -p vparname -a io:HW_PATH:TAPE), or can i use it directly?

thanks and regards,
RV

Re: Virtual Partition and tapes for recovery

Roberto,

As I recall, you do need to modify your vpar definition, but, rather than trust my memory, check this document:

Re: Virtual Partition and tapes for recovery

Thanks Pete,
in the document you pointed it is written that with no TAPE flag (in vpar configuration) i can use the make_tape_recovery command but restore is necessarily cold.
With the TAPE flag i can do the restore with other vPars running inside the same nPar.

Thanks,
