Vitual Array

Hi all,

1.What r the processes or steps occur when
HP-UX boots?
2.How can i know the status of the virtual array(power supply,disk drives... etc.),i have tried it through SAM but it doesen't work?

Shalom Yogesh,

1. If you have told HP-UX to boot off a disk array, which is a universally bad idea it simply tries to boot off the hardware path. If it works, it boots, if not, you get an ugly useless error message. No real status check. It just does the equivalent of a SEA from the console and if the PATH is there it tries to boot hpux vmunix off this path.
2. This is done from a machine that controlls the virutal array. For EVA's there is software for HP-UX to check this but its license is quite expensive. If its a non-HP disk array you'll need to check with the maker of the disk array.
