volume group is shown as down in cmviewcl -v

Hi,

The volume group vg01 on my server is shown as down, though it is up.Please see the output as below:

bash-2.05b# cmviewcl -v

bash-2.05b# vgdisplay -v vg01

Re: volume group is shown as down in cmviewcl -v

Cluster_Lock_LVM:
VOLUME_GROUP PHYSICAL_VOLUME STATUS
/dev/vg01 /dev/dsk/c3t0d1s2 down

This (c3t0d1s2) looks strange, because a partition 2 (s2) is normally only used for boot disks.

Please post

# vgdisplay -v /dev/vg01

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

I wonder how you configured system disk for cluster package.

What's your rootvg disks holding ?

Re: volume group is shown as down in cmviewcl -v

Currently the disk mirroring is wrong. But the status was down even when there was no mirroring. The correct status is now for vg01 as:

bash-2.05b# vgdisplay -v vg01
--- Volume groups ---
VG Name /dev/vg01
VG Write Access read/write
VG Status available, exclusive
Max LV 255

Re: volume group is shown as down in cmviewcl -v

Hi,

Any explaination please. The thing is why cmviewcl -v is showing vg01 as down when vg01 is actually up and everything is working fine too. I just want to know in what scenario this issue could come up.

Re: volume group is shown as down in cmviewcl -v

Hi,

Check vgdisplay vg01 on both nodes. Check the /etc/lvmtab on both nodes. Check the cluster configuration file for CLUSTER_LOCK_PV name for both nodes. Make sure the PV is claimed and good by diskinfo on both nodes.

Thanks
Pramod
