What happens to earlier Ignite archives?
I ran the make_net_recovery command and it created an archive with the timestamp, then I ran it again and it created a second archive. Then I ran it a third time and it created a third archive but once the third archive completed the first archive disappeared.
I thought it may have been moved to some kind of history directory but searching the server for the first archive yielded nothing. It appears to have been removed.
Is this normal? Is there a way to NOT have earlier archives removed? Is there a way to have it hold on to, for example, 5 archives and then remove earlier ones?
Thanks for any help.

Re: What happens to earlier Ignite archives?

Re: What happens to earlier Ignite archives?
i can see the man page and that refers to the a defaults file in the /var/opt/ignite/clients/0xLLA/recovery/defaults. But these values are used while using make_net_recovery GUI as the manpage says but are overridden by the command line option.
also there is an option -n of nake_net_recovery
-n number_archives
Specifies the number of archives that should remain on the
server at any given time. The default is two (2). If
- 2 - Formatted: January 16, 2009
make_net_recovery(1M) make_net_recovery(1M)
number_archives is two and there are already two archives
present when a third is being created, make_net_recovery
will remove the oldest archive after successfully creating
the newest archive.
u can see by using the -n option

Re: What happens to earlier Ignite archives?
this is in response with ur question thread
http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1304038
Please have a look at the following thread and have a look at what V2KCOT has to say.
http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1304701
he has nicely described that very well
Sure that will be helpful.

Re: What happens to earlier Ignite archives?
This explains why the first image you performed, disappeared just when you did make_net_recovery the third time.
If you want Ignite server store more than 2 images, you should use -n option on make_net_recovery
