What is the effect of stopinf snmpdm
I am running on HP 11.11 with snmpd Version 14.2.1.7, I received a security thread that “community name is set to the default value"
Could any one please help me to know what is this snmpdm used for ?And what is the effect of stopping it permanently ?
How to stop it n a running system ?
Thanks in advance

Re: What is the effect of stopinf snmpdm
I can speak to one portion of your question.
I received a security thread that community name is set to the default value"
This warning means that the snmp configuration is set to defaults. It's kine of like the default password on a wireless router. Everybody knows what it is and therefore can take over the thing and abuse it.
So the answer to the warning is if possible to change the community name in the snmp setup, globally. This will resolve the security problem.

Re: What is the effect of stopinf snmpdm
Hi Nair,
SNMPDM is mainly for traps for Openview Network Manager.
Please see the steps to disable it.

Re: What is the effect of stopinf snmpdm
yes, if you have a valid system contract with HP, I will advise you to link your SAID, so that you can see more knowledged base from HP.
