what should be done after nettune
I got a long list of routing table on a 10.20 box, their flags are shown as UGHD.
I set the pmtu to 0 by command nettune -s tcp_pmtu 0
However when I ping any host, it still come out with a UGHD entry in the routing table.
May I have to do /sbin/init.d/net stop; /sbin/init.d/net start after I run the nettune?
Any idea is welcomed.
Thanks & have a good day

Thanks Jeff, I guess I popped my last brain cell lifting an N-class into a cabinet today. 240 pounds! Thank god it wasn't heavy!

Re: what should be done after nettune
I read this before, so I tried these things Berlene mentioned.
Am I missing some important points? I flushed the routing table, checked netconf file and disable the PMTU Discovery process; but the UGHD routes come out again.
Any help?
Thanks & have a good day

Re: what should be done after nettune
You can turn this off at the router, run a cron job to flush the routing tables or turn off defrag with nettune.

Re: what should be done after nettune
I am not going to corrected the routers because many routers are involved.
I can do the flush periodically, however what Berlene said was "... or turn off defrag with nettune."
So I think turn off the defrag should correct the problem. What I am also asking is how can I make sure nettune works? Any further steps?
Correct me if I am wrong.
Thank you for your time

Re: what should be done after nettune
The solution could be disabling ICMP redirect on the default gateway.
Thanks to everyone who made their input to this message.
