What version of OS in on my HP box

what is the command to find out what version of HP 11.11 is on my bpx.

We have need to install software for 11.11 but they want more detail ..
11i v1.5 or 11i v1.6

# model
9000/785/B1000
# uname -a
HP-UX server B.11.11 U 9000/785 2014410835 unlimited-user license

A B class machine will only run 11i, known as 11.11 v1. The other releases you refer to are for Itanium boxes.

I'm not sure what more detail they need. If it's for 11.11, that's 11i v1, which you are running. v1.5 and v1.6 are for Itanium systems only.

11i v1.5 and 1.6 (and beyond) are for Itanium based servers (IA).

A 9000/785/B1000 is PA architecture.

Hi,

uname -r is only the command that tells you the version of OS you have. Having said that, you will be able to identify the marketing versions with the following table.

B.11.11 HP-UX 11i v1 PA-RISC

B.11.20 HP-UX 11i v1.5 Itanium

B.11.22 HP-UX 11i v1.6 Itanium

B.11.23 HP-UX 11i v2 Itanium

Unfortunately there is no one-to-one relation other B.11.11 and 11iv1.

Hi,

HP-UX 11i v1.5 or v1.6 are only for IPF (Itanium Processor Family).

11iv2 is just for some days available for PA server (http://www.hp.com/products1/unix/operating/hot_topic_unix.html).

So your version is an 11i v1.0 : the current official PA release.

Actually this question is hilarious.

A little explanation is in order,
HP-UX 11i has as versions 11.11, 11.20, 11.22, 11.23

11.11 is the first 11i that was released and
also known as v1.0
11.20 is v1.5 (discontinued as of 01/2002)
11.22 is the v1.6
11.23 is the v2

If you see with uname -a B.11.20 you v1.5 for instance but as you have B.11.11 you are still running v1.0.

You can also use swlist:

swlist -l bundle -a state -a revision HPUX\*
