Will HP reward great Olympians

Just to start,
we have had some great Olympians working at the ITRC supporting a lot of people.
just satisfied with points and sometimes without that but ready to give out support worldwide.

Infact they have made life easy for HP support center and also probably reducing the number of calls at the HP support center by resolving it through these forums.
They have done a great job isn't?
Not only but looking at the other side where the customers in the forum get immediate answers and probably feel wonderful.

We had a competition last year where HP has pocket computers to two or three high point rate.

Requesting DAN whether HP could give some rewards to the great professionals-->Olympians..

Your comments please on this

Hi,

I think that it's a good thing to reward the good job.

The Olympians made a good job and still working, then I vote for it.

Long life for the Olympians!!!

I also think that recognition for Olympians would be in order. It is true that because of their help, a lot of people have been able to resolve issues without contacting HPRC.

I vouch for a reward to the Olympians

Re: Will HP reward great Olympians

It would be great if HP did some more competitions or offer some rewards or discounts. However, most of the Olympians were here when the itrc forums started and we did receive some rewards then, I received a few, which im very grateful for and am still using today.

Nowadays Im happy contributing when i have spare time and I certainly appreciate the replies I get when I ask questions, as I recenlty did.

Re: Will HP reward great Olympians

I couldn't agree more with Stefan! I get more out of this forum than I could ever contribute to it. The reward for me is to "broaden" my skills, while at the same time helping others do the same.

I especially love the scripting challenges and the many different ways they can be solved. And it really craks me up when Procura comes up with a one liner.

Throw bones to dogs and they become happier dogs, but they are still dogs.

With the current economy, the most we could hope for is maybe getting the employee discount on items.

HP does have quite a few Jornadas that they have discontinued. Maybe putting up discounts on discontinued hardware for all ITRC contributors would be good, contribute more and get a bigger discount.

Comments/Compliments like above from Harry give me far more pleasure than yet another 10 points. Thanks to all that openly appreciate the answers of the people that enjoy giving them.

I hope I will be entertaining you for a long time :)

Re: Will HP reward great Olympians

The Olympians have done something that few will ever do, that is true. If their companies do not see the value in these people and do not know their accomplishments, then that is really a shame. Sure, maybe HP could do something, (if nothing else a certificate for their wall...) but if not, I hope they have the respect of their management...

When I hit the 1000 wizard status, my boss went nuts. He sent around emails to those above him, and someone ended up sending an email out to the whole department. I was a little embarrassed, but at least those above me know my accomlishments. (I hope I can keep him reined in when I get around to the crown. Are you looking at this Sorrel?)

Re: Will HP reward great Olympians

Hi Gang!

Personally, I'm not looking for another hat or tangible gift.

My reward for my time is learning something I didn't know. It's finding out how much I don't know. It's seeing, exploring and learning different approaches. It's motivation to research something for an abundance of reasons. The reward is knowing I have helped someone.

Regards to all!

Re: Will HP reward great Olympians

Hi everyone!

The small gifts are great when you get them, though that is not why most of us here. I'm here to learn and I do learn something new just about everyday and to give advice when I can.
When I first started here in the forums my aim was to gain knowledge, (unfortunately spent too much time in meetings and management crap) I had no idea at first that I would be helping others and having fun doing it. The camaraderie is what keeps this joint going.

Cheers

Thats true, its actually a part of learning and keeping yourself updated with recent changes. And you never know when and where you learn. But its a good practice to acknowledge the effort they put. It think you are right in some or the other way they should be felt and apreciated on timely manner.

Re: Will HP reward great Olympians

To be an Olympian, you need 20,000 POINTS. If everyone the Olympians helped gave points, and to make it easier I'll say everyone gave 10 points, then that means they've each answered 2000 questions.

Adding a touch of realism - I get points for approx 75% of my answers. So doing some high-school algebra, which now, many years later seems harder than quantum physics, that would be roughly 2700 questions per Olympian that HP's support did not have to field.

And we all know that they've helped more than that. I think they should get marble statues carved in their likeness and dispalyed at HP's headquarters ... No? ... okay, how 'bout some free loot like pens, caps, jackets, etc?

Re: Will HP reward great Olympians

These Olympians are great, and also those you want to help the members. I can only say that even the small gifts like caps, pens, digital diaries should be given to those who score.

I hope to get one, still just at 800+ points. A long way to go, a very long way. But I learn a lot through this forum.

Re: Will HP reward great Olympians

hello everybody!

I don't believe in gifts ;)

I believe many of us here "GIVE without expecting anything in RETURN" - what's in a "hat"? ...

If HP chooses to reward our 3 olymians, that will be their decision. I know they will - We should not ask them for that :)

Long live HP!

Have a nice day
Cheers

.... If i was an olympian, a "reconnaisance" from HP would most welcomed rather than those cheap electronic gadgets that becomes obsolete within months ;) ....And do i really need one? for what?

Re: Will HP reward great Olympians

Hello,

Personally I think that receving gifts is always nice, but is not the first scope of helping in ITRC. Personally, I feel that if someone is helped, then I feel happy, and that's it.

That's why I work as a support engineer. And that's why I help here. :-)

Yogeeraj, i'm not sure what you are talking about:

".... If i was an olympian, a "reconnaisance" from HP would most welcomed rather than those cheap electronic gadgets that becomes obsolete within months ;) ....And do i really need one? for what? "

"Reconnaissance" means investigation or inspection which has no relation to your comments?

Re: Will HP reward great Olympians

Disclaimer: Not an Olympian, probably never will be (actually a pointy haired boss these days).

Given that Olympians are clearly saving HP a bunch on handling support costs, I don't think rewards can be characterized as "gifts". And given that these folks are presumably providing surrogate support using their organizations' time and facilities, I think the employers as well as the employees should be considered for a reward program. Perhaps tech-trinkets to the people and a small support discount to the organizations. Just my $.02.

Re: Will HP reward great Olympians

I do not think that HP should provide anything for the help they are getting on the board - that would corrupt the morality and integrity of forums everywhere.

As Harry Says "Live free or Die" -

Its all about honor, respect, love, and committment.

If you need anything else - you are in the wrong place.

Just MHO.

Re: Will HP reward great Olympians

I think HP should give the Olympians new Hats!

Those leafy-green things may be all the rage this summer fashion season, but if any of the (mainly male interestingly) Olympians have bald spots on their heads it will be deathly cold when winter arrives?

What happens next? Will they rest on their LAURELS, be WREATHED in the glory or add another leaf to their wreath?

All jokes aside, give 'em a whacking great full house 2 cell RP7410 with a XP attached, they deserve it!

Re: Will HP reward great Olympians

I think a reward of $10/point for 'Great' Olympians and $1/point for 'Good' Olympians would be just about right.

If it ain't broke, I can fix that.
